Preventing youth substance use is both an immediate public health priority and a long-term investment in healthy communities.
A new special JPHMP Direct supplement, developed through collaboration among ASTHO, CDC, and ONDCP, highlights the work of coalitions supported through the ONDCP-supported Drug-Free Communities (DFC) program.
The 13 manuscripts explore how DFC coalitions are using:
• Community-driven partnerships and evidence-based prevention strategies.
• Youth engagement.
• Sustainable, adaptable infrastructure.
Together, these approaches demonstrate how communities can build prevention efforts that reflect local needs and support the health and well-being of young people.
