Many folks have been asking about the Constitutional Amendment coming up on the August ballot. The messaging seems to be almost identical...

"Don't be confused! It's simple... just vote YES!" and
"Don't be confused! It's simple... just vote NO!"

If you already know how you're voting, that's great! I'm providing this for those voters who want the facts so they can make their own educated vote.

This article also gives you the exact language you'll see on the ballot if you want to study it ahead of time and walk into the voting booth KNOWING what it says.

One question I get a lot is how the elections are going to work. The Amendment language establishes the basics of direct election and staggered terms of the Supreme Court Justices. However, you'll also read the phrase "as provided by law" which means the legislature will need to define many of the details on how it will be implemented such as regional justice districts or statewide election, etc.

For the first time in Kansas history, eligible Kansans will have the opportunity to have eviction records expunged after three years. This bipartisan, commonsense legislation creates a pathway to a second chance while also encouraging payment of eviction judgments—striking a fair balance for both tenants and landlords beginning on July 1st, 2026.

After working on this issue for several years along with Representative Cyndi Howerton, I’m proud to see this bill become law and make a real difference for Kansans seeking to rebuild their lives.
