Just wrapped up my USAT recertification! 🏊♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️ Continuing education is one of my favorite parts of coaching — every cycle I walk away with new perspective and fresh ideas to bring back to my athletes. Excited to put some of this into practice with this season!

Triple digits. Again. 🔥
Between the heat that won’t quit and another local race getting cancelled, this racing season has had some real gaps in it. It’s a good reminder that consistency in training matters more than any one race on the calendar — the fitness you build now is what shows up when the next start line finally comes.

🚫 Myth: “More training always = better racing.”
This is one of the biggest mistakes I see with triathletes, especially the ones eager to improve fast.
Real Truth: your fitness doesn’t actually build during the workout — it builds during recovery, when your body adapts to the stress you just put it under. Skip the recovery, and you’re just piling up fatigue without the gains.
Signs you might be overtraining instead of overachieving:
✅ Resting heart rate creeping up morning after morning
✅ Workouts that used to feel manageable now feel impossible
✅ Trouble sleeping despite being exhausted
✅ Nagging aches that don’t go away
✅ Motivation tanking even though you love this sport
At Team Tri ICT, the athletes who improve the most aren’t always the ones who train the hardest — they’re the ones who train smart, with recovery built in as part of the plan, not an afterthought.
What’s one of your favorite things you do for recovery? Drop it in the comments👇
