I did good. The large vase is store bought, and so are the lights (but I think I can reverse engineer these and make my own now…) but the helix and the germination greenhouse are both printed from designs I tweaked.
The top of the helix is English ivy. It has no grow lights above it on purpose. Is it grows down to find the light, it will spiral around the helix.
The helix itself is modular. I can keeps adding more tiers as it grows, and the lights come in sets of three. I should be able to get it up to 8-9 total tiers. Total cost for the build so far: Roughly $12 including the lights.
My first completed project incorporating both electronics and 3D printing. The only thing off-the-shelf was an aquarium pump. I used random filament roll ends for this prototype, and I didn’t make any effort to seal anything or adjust the pump. This was just a proof of concept.
Now to make a prettier, more functional version.

Now if only I could figure out how to calibrate the legs. As usual, the instructions are awful.

Why yes, there are a few parts where I had to backtrack to fix mistakes. I sincerely hope the actual device went through better development than the instructions!

Time for a non-printing project that I’ve been putting off for a year.
Test print before I start a run of 20 full-size prints over the next couple of months.
