Join me this Sunday, October 11, at College Park First United Methodist Church as I have the honor of serving as guest preacher for PRIDE SUNDAY!

For those who assume this celebration is something new, October has been recognized as LGBTQ+ History Month since 1994, established to honor the history, contributions, struggles, and resilience of LGBTQ+ people. Our stories are not new. Our presence in the Church is not new. And neither is God’s call upon our lives.

For far too long, public opinion, religious traditions, and theological interpretations have attempted to determine who is worthy of belonging, who is permitted to lead, and whose calling is legitimate.
But I remain convinced that God’s calling has never required humanity’s permission.

Regardless of public opinion, theological disagreement, or the limitations others may place upon my identity, I stand firmly in this truth:
I, TOO, AM CALLED.
Called to preach. Called to serve. Called to love. Called to participate in the liberating work of God.

Come worship with us as we celebrate a God whose love is expansive and whose grace refuses to be confined by the boundaries we create.

Their names will continue to show up for somebody else. ❤️

Kevin Pew and I are proud to announce the Terry & Thallis Miller Servant Leadership Scholarship, established in memory of our beloved parents.

Our parents taught us that service doesn’t always require a title. Sometimes it looks like standing at the church door on Sunday morning, coaching a young person, giving somebody a ride home, supporting women in ministry, reaching out to a neighbor, or simply being there when someone needs you. In their memory, we’re raising scholarship support for students at Gammon Theological Seminary who share that same heart for community and service.

This one is personal. In 2016, our parents sent me from Wichita to Atlanta to begin my own journey at Gammon—a journey that would eventually lead to both my Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry.

Now, Kevin and I have an opportunity to help another student along their journey. We invite everyone who knew and loved Terry & Thallis, and anyone who believes in supporting the next generation of servant leaders, to join us.

❤️ Give $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can.

Our parents spent their lives showing up for people. This scholarship is our way of making sure their names continue to show up for someone else.

As we approach Juneteenth, may we remember that freedom is more than what we’ve been released from. It is also what we are free to imagine.

Too often we inherit limits, expectations, and stories that tell us who we can be. But liberation invites us to dream beyond survival, beyond scarcity, and beyond what has always been.

This week, ask yourself:
What would I pursue if I truly believed freedom belonged to me?

The future is not only something we inherit. It is something we imagine and create.

Pride Month is more than celebration. It is a reminder that authenticity is sacred.

There is nothing holy about shrinking yourself to make others comfortable. The God who created you did so with intention, beauty, and purpose.

This month, we celebrate the courage to live truthfully, love boldly, and create communities where everyone belongs.

May we continue building a world where people are not merely tolerated but celebrated.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

Never apologize for the color of your bloom in spring.

Another year. Another chapter. Another opportunity to say yes.

This birthday feels less like arrival at a destination and more like honoring the journey that brought me here. Grateful for every lesson, every scar, every prayer, every person, and every grace that carried me.
