The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Science of Reading Act of 2026 (H.R. 7890), a bipartisan bill that would reorient federal literacy funding toward reading instruction grounded in the "science of reading", and explicitly bar an alternative approach known as three-cueing from any instruction supported by that funding.

The bill now heads to the Senate, where a related measure, the READ Act (S. 4689), has already advanced through committee, giving the effort momentum on both sides of the Capitol.

-Service Learning in Action-
Our students are busy giving some of Brevard County's residents a home makeover! Students are working together to restore and rebuild the bee nursery at our local park!
They are creating a brand-new bee nursery to support our local pollinator population. - -- learning firsthand how even a small habitat project can make a big difference in a local ecosystem-
- learning by doing, caring for our community, and leaving a place a little better than it was
THANK YOU, Dr. Kate!
Stay tuned for the bee home makeover reveal!

Happy 250th, America!
We traveled to see the fireworks in St. Augustine🇺🇸

🇺🇸 A Revolutionary Story Hidden in St. Augustine 🇺🇸
Did you know that during the American Revolutionary War, Florida was under British rule and became a refuge for Loyalists fleeing the colonies?
One of the city's most famous landmarks, Castillo de San Marcos, played an important role during the Revolution. Originally built by the Spanish in the late 1600s, the massive coquina stone fort was later occupied by the British and used to hold Patriot prisoners captured during the war. Three signers of the Declaration of Independence and Christopher Gadsden, who created, “Don’t Tread on Me,” were a few who were held at the fort.
Walking through the fort today is like stepping into a living history book.
Next time you visit St. Augustine, remember that America's oldest continuously inhabited European-established city also witnessed some of the lesser-known chapters of the Revolution.

This week, we traded our usual classroom for the streets of Seattle; we used photography as a way to explore, learn, and see the world from a different perspective. As a homeschool mom and teacher, every trip is an opportunity to turn curiosity into education, and Seattle has been the perfect place to do just that.
From the iconic Space Needle to the vibrant waterfront and bustling neighborhoods, the city is full of stories waiting to be captured. What makes this visit even more exciting is the incredible energy surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026. With fans, visitors, and celebrations bringing people together from around the globe, Seattle feels alive with anticipation and connection.
Photography has challenged us to slow down, notice details, and document the unique character of a city preparing to welcome the world. Every photo tells a story—not just about Seattle, but about learning through experience and embracing new perspectives.
Learning doesn’t always happen at a desk. Sometimes it happens behind a camera, one photo at a time.
Thank you, Arts for All Studio for teaching Photography to our students this year!
