Starting a new job is basically the first day of school for adults.
New people.
New rules.
Trying to remember everybody's name.
Trying to figure out where everything is.
And trying very hard not to embarrass yourself before lunch.
I've worked for years, but changing industries reminded me that experience doesn't exempt you from being a beginner again.
Every workplace has its own system.
And there's a price you pay while figuring it out.
I call it The Beginner Tax.
Chapter Two of The Work Survival Guide is about exactly that.
If you'd rather listen while driving, cleaning or doing whatever Sunday has you doing, I recorded this one too:

I write story-driven Facebook content for businesses.
I don't start with a caption template.
I study your business, your customers and what people naturally find interesting about what you do. Then I find the angle and write the story.
I've been testing this through my work with Flex and my own Facebook writing.
I also used the same thinking to analyse CCT and sent them my observations with no sales pitch or request for a meeting.
The CEO saw it and asked the COO to contact me.
That led to a meeting.
Now I'm opening 5 spots for BVI businesses that want better Facebook content without having to figure out what to write themselves.

DOTR is changing.
Not into something completely new. More like I'm finally understanding what it was supposed to be.
Mental health is still here. But so are faith, work, business, motherhood, BVI life, creativity and all the random things that make me stop and think, "Wait... there's a pattern here."
Basically, my brain finally has somewhere appropriate to wander. ๐

I don't drink tea.
I don't like mint.
I don't like lemongrass (fever grass).
Yet somehow, I found myself buying more bush tea.
That made me stop and ask a different question.
What did this business do so well that it changed my behaviour?
Most people would review the taste.
I wrote a Pattern Report instead.
In this article, I break down:
โข Why convenience was the real product.
โข How BVI Bush Teas turned generations of Caribbean knowledge into a modern business.
โข The marketing and packaging details most people would never notice.
โข Why I believe they aren't just selling tea. They're preserving our culture.
As someone who spends her days looking for hidden patterns in businesses and systems, this was too good not to write about.
If you're a business owner, entrepreneur, marketer, or simply proud of Caribbean innovation, I think you'll enjoy this one.

Everything is a system. Sometimes you just need to know where to look.
The Caribbean's Best-Kept Business Secret Isn't Coffee. It's Bush Tea. I bought $25 worth of bush tea. What I actually received was a lesson in branding, behavioral psychology, and preserving an entire culture.

Dopamine On The Rocks started as a mental health platform.
It still cares deeply about mental health.
But I've realized I've never really written about one topic.
I've always been writing about patterns.
So from today, you'll find faith, business, systems thinking, motherhood, creativity, BVI stories, food, history, and the observations that connect them all.
