Talavou Cyber | Vaimoso EFKS Youth 🛡️
SamCERT had the privilege to conduct a Talavou Cyber session with the Vaimoso EFKS Youth. Bringing more awareness around cybersecurity and online safety catered to the ears of the youth.
An interactive engagement to discern what counts as a cybersecurity incident and what is not, reporting pathways and avenues for assistance.
Cybersecurity is everyone's responsibility and you can make a big difference with small and easy steps! Our Cyber UP Pacific campaign - UPsize, UPgrade, UPdate, UPhold - simplifies it so everyone from all ages is empowered to be cybered up!
Competition ramped up with our Kahoot quiz, where children tag-teamed with each other, their parents and some with grandparents navigating their phones and helping each other answer faster and correctly to get on the podium!

🛡️Government Information Security Workshop 3 | Information Classification & Handling Standard
Friday 3 July - SamCERT successfully hosted our third workshop for the Information Classification & Handling Standard of the Information Security Policy (2024). The workshop brought together government representatives to strengthen understanding of how information should be classified, handled, stored, shared, and protected across the public sector.
Key Takeaways:
🔒 Information Classification: Understanding the different classification levels and why proper classification is essential for protecting government information.
📄 Secure Information Handling: Learning best practices for handling, storing, transmitting, and disposing of information based on its sensitivity.
🛡️ Practical Application: Interactive discussions and real-world scenarios to help participants apply the standard in their daily work and improve information security practices.
These workshops also present an opportunity for our IT practitioners to share what is happening in their environments and any concerns, in a safe space to inform SamCERT’s and the Ministry’s plans in uplifting technical capacity in our Government. Discussions were around AI and technology usage in each of the agencies.
Continuing to strengthen trust, protecting sensitive government information, and building a more cyber resilient Digital Samoa.
