Samoa Workers Congress
United for fair wages, safe workplaces, and stronger worker rights in Samoa.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to learn about APHEDA and the important work they do in supporting unions across the Pacific. We were also introduced to the proposed projects they hope to implement in Samoa through the Samoa Workers Congress (SWC).
It was inspiring to hear from each of the SWC affiliates, including the Teachers Association, Nursing Association, Samoa National Provident Fund Association, Samoa First Union , and the Seafarers Union, as they shared their experiences, challenges, and aspirations for their members.
We are grateful for this valuable opportunity and look forward to strengthening our partnership with APHEDA. We hope this marks the beginning of many more opportunities for the Samoa Workers Congress and its affiliated associations as we continue working together to advance the interests and wellbeing of workers in Samoa.

A wonderful evening with some of our partners from APHEDA ✨
We gathered for an introductory dinner ahead of our Workshop on 24 June, where we will deliberate on each affiliate’s priorities and explore how APHEDA can best support them. (To find out more about them, click this link https://apheda.org.au/ )
It was a valuable opportunity to connect, share perspectives, and set the stage for meaningful collaboration. We look forward to continuing these discussions at the workshop and strengthening our partnerships for the future.

The Samoa Workers Congress proudly stands in support of our affiliate, the Samoa National Teachers Association, during the Go Public FUND Education Workshop in Samoa.
This workshop marks a significant milestone as it is the first Go Public FUND Education Workshop to be held outside of Fiji. We are honored that the Samoa National Teachers Association has been given the privilege of hosting this important event and creating a valuable platform for educators to engage, learn, and contribute to meaningful discussions on the future of public education.
The workshop provides a great opportunity for teachers and members to strengthen their knowledge, share experiences, and join conversations that promote quality, accessible, and well-funded public education for all.
We commend the Samoa National Teachers Association for its leadership and commitment to empowering educators and advancing education in Samoa. Together, we continue to advocate for strong public services, quality education, and better outcomes for our communities.

Samoa Workers Congress Engages in Regional Dialogue on Union Leadership.
The SWC proudly acknowledges the participation of its President, Saina Tomi, at the recent Trade Union Leaders gathering currently being held in Nadi, Fiji. This important regional event brings together union leaders, policymakers, and advocates from across the Pacific to strengthen the future of worker representation and leadership.
The gathering coincides with discussions highlighted by Fiji's Minister for Information, Lynda Tabuya, who called for greater inclusion of women and youth in union leadership, an issue that continues to shape the direction of labour movements throughout the Pacific region.
In her address, she emphasized that while the labour movement has historically been male-dominated, women have always played a significant role in the workforce, often without equal recognition or protection. She encouraged women to step forward into leadership roles and urged young people not to feel intimidated but instead to take their place in shaping the future of unions and governance.
The present of President Saina Tomi at this regional forum reflect the SWC' commitment to:
1) Promoting inclusive leadership
2) Empowering women and young workers
3) Building stronger, more representative unions
4) Collaborating with Pacific partners on shared labour challenges.
We commend President Saina Tomi for representing Samoa at this important gathering and for contributing to conversations that will shape the future of workers across the Pacific.
