This week, we meet Sarnel Calitz, Senior Reporting Consultant at Infinitus Reporting Solutions, a role centred on helping businesses cut through complexity and uncover meaningful insight.

The one lesson that she says has shaped the way she approaches every project is to never accept a process simply because it's always been done that way, but to instead start by asking a more important question.

“I always start by asking what outcome we're trying to achieve,” she says. “Financial processes should enable better business decisions, not simply report on history.” This mindset, she says, helps her to develop solutions that are purposeful and aligned with what businesses are actually trying to accomplish.

One of the most valuable skills Sarnel has developed throughout her career is quiet observation. Rather than being the loudest voice in the room, she believes listening carefully, recognising patterns and understanding different perspectives leads to stronger decisions and better outcomes. “The best solutions come from taking the time to listen, observe and understand before acting,” she says.

That same thoughtful approach extends beyond the office. An accomplished wildlife artist, https://www.sarnelcalitz.com/, Sarnel spends her spare time creating detailed portraits drawn from what she describes as a desire to capture “the favourites, the ordinary, the threatened, the peculiar, the outcasts and the unnoticed”.

Continuing our Women’s Month series, we're sharing the perspectives and experiences that have shaped the lives and careers of the women who make Infinitus what it is. Today we meet Rita Teixeira, Reporting Specialist.

Having been with Infinitus for eight years, Rita has learned that the most rewarding part of her work begins and ends with relationships.

Rita spends her days helping finance teams navigate reporting challenges, solve complex problems and unlock greater value from Finnivo. As Support Lead, she believes that every support request represents a person under pressure. “We don't see them as clients. We see them as colleagues,” she says. “We know the people sitting behind those deadlines and those desks.”

What continues to motivate Rita is knowing that her work makes life a little easier for the people she supports. Every client has unique challenges, and she enjoys building lasting relationships while finding practical solutions that help them get the most from Finnivo.

"No two days are the same, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about my role. Every conversation brings a new perspective, and it's incredibly rewarding to know that the work we do gives our clients more time to focus on what matters most. Seeing the trust we've built with our clients and knowing we've made a positive difference is what keeps me motivated."

For Women’s Month, we’re celebrating the women of Infinitus Reporting Solutions whose careers power the innovation behind Finnivo, and make our business – and yours – the success that it is. This series shines a light on the real stories, detours and decisions that led them into finance, and what keeps them here.

Today, we feature Sadhna Gopi (CGMA), Client Services Lead, a finance professional who never actually planned to be one.

Having never set out to pursue the career she’s in, it was almost fate that Sadhna found her way to us. Years ago, she applied for what she thought was a receptionist role, hoping to fund an economics degree. Instead, her employer registered her for articles (a term she admits she never even heard before at that time), and with no accountants in her circle and an IT/information management degree already behind her, she simply decided to “go along with it”.

What kept her there was people and problem‑solving. “I can't do routine. I get too bored! And I can't sit behind a desk and I can't not talk to people,” she says. “What I love about what I do is that I get to engage with so many people. It's almost like you're working for a different company every day.”

Almost nine years into her journey at Infinitus, Sadhna leads client services, working alongside the support and implementation leads of Finnivo. Her days are spent listening deeply to clients, unpacking complexity and translating it into streamlined, automated reporting that actually works for the people who use it.

Her story is a reminder that careers don’t have to be perfectly planned to lead to powerful, high‑impact work in fintech.

FP&A: The difference between anticipating change and chasing it Businesses can no longer rely on historical reporting to navigate constant disruption. Alwyn Pretorius explores how modern financial planning and analysis (FP&A) empowers organisations with real-time insights, better forecasting and strategic decision-making to anticipate change rather than react to...

Why business growth is exposing finance's biggest operational bottleneck - The Business of Money 28/07/2026

Business growth is exciting.

But it also exposes something many organisations don't anticipate.

The finance processes that supported yesterday's business often struggle to support tomorrow's.

As entities, transactions and reporting requirements increase, spreadsheets and manual consolidation quickly become operational bottlenecks.

Growth shouldn't mean spending more time preparing reports.

It should mean spending more time making better decisions.

In our latest article, published by The Business of Money, Alwyn Pretorius explores why finance teams need reporting processes that scale as the business grows.

📈 Is your business growing faster than your finance processes can keep up?

Growth often means:
• More entities
• More data
• More reporting requirements
• More manual work

Without the right reporting processes, growth can actually slow decision-making rather than accelerate it.

Our latest article, published in The Business of Money, explores why finance can become an operational bottleneck for growing organisations—and how automation helps finance teams stay ahead.

Congratulations to the new champions! 🏆

For finance teams, though, "extra time" at month-end usually means late nights, manual work and unnecessary pressure.

Finnivo automates consolidation, reporting and planning, helping finance teams finish on time and spend more time where it matters most—analysing results and driving better decisions.

The role of finance is changing.

The best finance leaders are no longer simply reporting the numbers.

They're helping their organisations answer bigger questions:

➡️ What could happen next?
➡️ What risks should we prepare for?
➡️ Which opportunities should we invest in?

Modern FP&A enables finance to move beyond hindsight and provide the foresight that supports confident strategic decision-making.

Because in today's business environment, anticipating change is a competitive advantage.

Anticipating change starts with having the right insights at the right time.

Our latest article on FP&A appears in the July issue of SAICA - The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants's Accounting SA — fittingly, right next to our latest Finnivo ad.

Better insight. Better decisions. More time for what matters.

How much time does your finance team spend preparing reports… versus analysing them?

For many organisations, finance professionals spend days collecting, reconciling and validating data before they can even begin looking for insights.

The result?
• Slower decision-making
• Missed opportunities
• Multiple versions of the truth

When reporting is automated and data is centralised, finance teams can spend less time producing reports and more time helping the business make better decisions.

That's where modern FP&A creates real value.
