The next scam message that lands on your phone could look completely legitimate. It may have your name, your bank’s logo, the correct spelling and even details about where you live or a parcel you are expecting. If it is a phishing message, there may be little about it that immediately raises suspicion.

But there is one thing that sophisticated scammers and artificial intelligence still struggle with: sounding convincingly like an ordinary South African in their home language.

Wolwedans Elderly Day - 16 September 2026.
The Groot-Brak CPF (Community Policing Forum) was asked to host a morning program with the elderly in Wolwedans.
Jacky Carstens, Elize Bester, and Lindre Lotter led the scripture reading and prayer. Then came the great fun! Bingo was played with the elderly. Prizes were donated by the Groot-Brak Dutch Reformed Church (NG Kerk) and the CPF. The church also asked us to distribute clothes. We packed them into bags, and the elderly drew numbers. Everyone went home with something. TAKE ACTION AGAINST CRIME tips were also discussed with the elderly. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
Thank you to everyone that was involved making this day a feast for the eldery.

GREAT BRAK Police Station Project: February 2025 to September 2026

The CPF (Community Policing Forum) management took the initiative to upgrade and beautify the station. We launched the project in February 2025 by renovating the cell kitchen, followed by a complete overhaul of the garden. Five trees were cut down and uprooted by community workers performing community service at the station. After our board received official approval for the project, the garden was successfully completed in May 2026. Additionally, the station's gutters, windows, and buildings were washed, the cells are now cleaned weekly, and the patrol vehicles (bakkies) are regularly washed. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the following organizations and individuals for their contributions in making this project a success to date: the neighborhood watches, Farm Watches, Universal Paint, Hein the builder, Ms. Human, and all the donors who contributed plants and lawn grass.Furthermore, we established a feeding scheme for the workers. Special thanks go to the NG Church in Long Street, the VLV (Women's Agricultural Union), and the CPF. Thank you to every individual who made a donation, whether big or small. The CPF management deeply appreciates your support in turning the station into a clean, welcoming, and positive environment for both our police officers and the members of the public who visit the facility.
