The reason it matters is not pride. It is that when something trips at two in the morning, your own guy can find it in a minute instead of an hour. That hour is what the inside of the panel is actually for.

A cable joint costs a few hundred rand. Digging up two hundred metres of trench to redo it costs a great deal more.

Twenty years of MV and LV cable work, and the faults we get called out to are almost never the cable itself. It is a joint that was rushed to keep a programme, a termination that was never torqued properly, or moisture that got in before it was sealed.

So we test it before it goes back in the ground, not after the tar goes down.

If you have a job with cable in it, get us in before backfill, not after the fault.

No water is bad enough. Paying for a new pump you did not need is worse.

Because the fault was never in the pump. It was the supply, the starter, a burnt winding, or a control fault upstream that quietly cooked the new one the same way it cooked the old one.
