A Second Chance for Victims of the Dog Meat Trade ❤️🐾

What began as a desperate journey for 12 dogs ended with a chance at survival — thanks to a vital tip-off and the swift action of the police.

The vehicle carrying the dogs was intercepted by police, who, following discussions with the Veterinary Department, escorted it to Kabwe Animal Rescue. There, we were able to safely remove the dogs and assess their condition.

Sadly, one dog had already lost its life.

Three others were found in critical condition and urgently needed veterinary care. On Saturday morning, they were transported to The Showgrounds Vet, where they are receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr Liza.

For the dogs who survived, their ordeal is not over — but they now have something they desperately needed: a second chance.

The remaining dogs were vaccinated and examined by our local vet, Dr Lydia. Following discussions with AARC, they kindly agreed to take the surviving dogs into their care, giving them a safe place to recover while allowing us to keep our emergency kennels available for the next animals who need our help.

We are continuing to work closely with the local authorities and will monitor the legal proceedings against those responsible.

At Kabwe Animal Rescue, we care for around 700 cats and 60 dogs. Every rescue places additional pressure on our already limited resources, which is why the support of animal lovers across the country means so much to us. ❤️

This rescue is a powerful reminder that a simple tip-off can save lives. Because someone spoke up, these dogs were given the opportunity to survive and begin a new chapter.
