Education remains one of the greatest tools for breaking the cycle of poverty, yet for many children in rural communities, going to school is only one part of the daily struggle. Before a lesson even begins, many have already walked long distances, fetched water for their families, or gone without a proper meal. These are challenges no child should have to overcome just to access an education.
At Kabonde School in Isoka District, our learners are determined, eager, and full of potential. However, one of the biggest barriers they face is the lack of a sustainable source of clean water. Water is not only essential for drinking, it is vital for hygiene, sanitation, food preparation, and creating a healthy learning environment. Without it, children lose valuable learning time, their health is put at risk, and teachers face unnecessary challenges in delivering quality education.
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe and dignified environment. Providing a reliable water source at Kabonde Community School is more than an infrastructure project; it is an investment in children’s health, education, and future.
If this cause touches your heart and you would like to be part of changing the lives of these children, we warmly invite you to support our Water for Kabonde Community School initiative. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, brings us one step closer to ensuring that every child can learn without the burden of water scarcity. Together, we can give Kabonde’s children something many of us take for granted: clean water, better health, and a brighter future through education.

We are delighted to share an important milestone for Phoenix Foundation.
Following our engagements with the Permanent Secretary – Education Services at the Ministry of Education, we have officially received the Ministry's endorsement to implement a project in selected schools across Isoka District. The project will focus on malaria prevention, inclusion, and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing among school-going children.
This initiative will be implemented in partnership with Ministry of Health and Children for Health, who are serving as our technical and operations lead. Together, we are committed to equipping children with the knowledge and skills they need to become healthier, more resilient, and active champions of positive change in their communities.
This endorsement reflects the growing confidence in community-led solutions and marks another step forward in our mission to improve the lives of children in underserved communities. As we begin this exciting journey, we warmly welcome individuals, organizations, and development partners who share our vision to join us in creating lasting impact for every child.
Together, we can build healthier schools, stronger communities, and brighter futures for Zambia's children.

What if children weren’t just listeners, but health message carriers too? Our next program is built on that idea and we’re so excited about it.

At Phoenix Foundation, we see it every day, mothers are the ones holding families and communities together. It’s their love, grit, and quiet sacrifices that get kids to school, keep homes running, and give the next generation a shot at something better.
To every mom out there: thank you. You’re raising leaders, often on little sleep and even less recognition. We see you, and we’re grateful.
Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours.
