DAY 9 and I finally finished this piece ✨
A very personal piece based on a branch of a Ghaf tree found during the first days of the war in the desert behind our home in Dubai. A symbol of strength and resilience, made in honor of the people living in UAE who build a strong unity in these uncertain times.

DAY 8 and I am still looking for the perfect final touch for this branch weaving piece ✨

In the comments under my last reel some people suggested organic forms and a touch of gold, so here we go.
Crochet with wire was already on my list for ages already.
What do you think?

I finished the weaving yesterday, but I have the feeling that it’s not finished yet.

What do you think? Would a contrasting colour be the missing detail? Or maybe some matching fabric?

Would love to add more depth, but not sure yet how. Maybe another layer of weaving, with added embroidery stitches or by adding pieces of fabric…

DAY 6 - trial and error ✌️
Went back and forth today and added a little sparkle.
I think the first layer of weaving is officially done ✨

Don’t get me wrong - love a good tip. But telling someone they’re doing something “wrong” without asking why they’re doing it that way isn’t how we should treat each other.
Just because a technique is usually done a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the right way for you or for the piece you’re creating right now.

My work is always trial and error. I use whatever tools I have at hand when an idea appears. Sometimes the most beautiful things happen when we stop playing strictly by the rules.
