Scientists are reporting a concerning rise in seismic activity around North Korea’s nuclear test site, raising fresh questions about what may be happening underground.

The activity does not automatically mean North Korea is preparing for another nuclear test. Natural seismic activity, underground changes, or other factors can also produce such signals.

Still, the development is being closely monitored because North Korea has previously conducted nuclear tests at the Punggye-ri site.

South Korea declined sending military to support US war in Iran despite President Trump's pressure.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has ruled out sending troops or military assets that could involve South Korea in the ongoing war with Iran, despite continued calls from Washington for greater support.

Lee said Seoul’s principle of avoiding involvement in the conflict will remain unchanged.

South Korea is, however, considering limited measures to protect its commercial vessels, oil shipments and citizens around the Strait of Hormuz.

The decision comes after weeks of U.S. pressure on Seoul to contribute to efforts in the region.

RUSSIA AND CHINA VETO UN MANDATE TO MONITOR IRAN SANCTIONS

Russia and China have vetoed a U.S.-backed resolution at the UN Security Council that sought to extend the mandate of the expert panel responsible for monitoring sanctions against Iran.

The resolution received 11 votes in favor, while Russia and China voted against it, with Pakistan and Somalia abstaining.

Moscow and Beijing argued against extending the monitoring mechanism, while the United States maintained that ending it would create a major gap in independent monitoring of sanctions violations and evasion.

IMPORTANT: The veto does NOT remove the existing sanctions. It blocks the extension of the UN expert panel tasked with monitoring their implementation.

Iran welcomed the Russian and Chinese vetoes.

The vote highlights the growing divide at the UN Security Council over Iran, sanctions and the future of international pressure on Tehran.

The geopolitical battle over Iran is now playing out inside the UN as well as across the Middle East.

IRAN REPORTEDLY RULES OUT REOPENING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ UNTIL TRUMP AND NETANYAHU LEAVE POWER

A senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly said Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz or enter negotiations until Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are removed from power, according to WANA News Agency.

Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, a political adviser to Khamenei, reportedly made the statement while marking 200 days of public presence, describing the position as the “first stage” of Iran’s response.

The statement sets an explicit political condition for reopening one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints.

Meanwhile, the national average diesel price hit a record $9.999.

Inventories sit at 106.3 million barrels — 13% below the five-year average. Refineries are running at 97.8% capacity with little room to produce more.

Diesel has risen 74% in nine months. Farmers and truckers are paying 63% more than last year.

Bottom line: No Hormuz, no talks — until regime change in Washington and Jerusalem. And the American economy is already paying the price at the pump.

UN EXPERTS SAY U.S. MAY HAVE COMMITTED WAR CRIMES IN IRAN

A UN fact-finding mission says it found “reasonable grounds” to believe U.S. forces were responsible for two February 28 strikes in Iran that downed at least 178 civilians.

One strike hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School in Minab, where more than 150 people were downed , including around 120 children, according to Iranian officials.

The second strike hit a sports complex and residential area in Lamerd, downing 22 civilians, according to the UN-backed investigators.

The experts said the locations were clearly identifiable as civilian sites and concluded that the attacks amounted to indiscriminate attacks prohibited under international humanitarian law. (Internazionale)

A preliminary U.S. assessment reportedly found that American forces were likely responsible for the Minab strike but suggested the school may have been hit because outdated intelligence incorrectly identified the area as a military site. Washington has not publicly accepted responsibility and says the investigation is ongoing. The U.S. military has also denied responsibility for the Lamerd strike. (CBS News)

The same UN report, however, also accuses Iranian authorities of crimes against humanity during their crackdown on anti-government protesters, including torture and arbitrary detention. (apnews.com)
