😍 Anna Vissens, The Guardian’s Head of Data Science, will take the stage at PyData & PyCon Yerevan 2026 to share how machine learning can support data-driven journalism.

In her talk, Anna will share how The Guardian’s Data Science team worked with journalists and researchers to measure sentiment toward immigration in UK parliamentary debates over the past century.

The project combined machine learning, , and large-scale text analysis to answer editorial questions about how political discourse has changed over time. Anna will also discuss the use of LLMs for data annotation and share lessons from building ML systems for real-world investigations.
