We are a small, independent brand of audio tools and instruments based in the sunny mountains of Yerevan. Our passion for music and sound has driven us to create unique and innovative products that blend vintage and modern technology to deliver a truly creative sonic experience. We take pride in every aspect of our process, from design to production, and strive to make high-quality products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Our projects range from modular synthesizers to samplers and more, all with the goal of pushing the boundaries of what's possible in sound design. At Mad Sound Factory, we also value excellent customer service and support, taking packaging and logistics matters seriously. Our goal is to create unconventional instruments that challenge conventional music approaches. Analog chaos meets MIDI precision. 🔥
MIDIATOR brings the organismic sequencing of the SOMA Ornament-8 into the MIDI domain and opens up an entire new world of MAD sequencing.
Casio sends MIDI Clock → MIDIATOR converts it to analog Clock → Ornament-8 stays perfectly in sync.
Ornament-8 sends its gate outputs back to the MIDIATOR, which converts them to MIDI.
Result: You hear the Casio’s automatic accompaniment playing tight in time together with the wild, organismic sequencing of the Ornament-8.

This time the little wind-up menace has targeted the Clock input of the DROP and is now furiously driving the divider.
The piezo signal from the toy is amplified and sent into the Clock input of the DROP. Cat provides the clock — DROP just follows the chaos.

Adding LFO2 to the trigger input introduces variation and instability into the rhythm.

The signal is amplified and sent into the Trigger Input.
Strong transients = reliable triggering.
With proper grounding, even a mechanical toy can drive the DROP.
Using a guitar to trigger the DROP — don’t forget the ground connection.
Almost any instrument with a pickup can trigger the DROP.
Just don’t forget the GROUND connection!
In this example we use a cigar box guitar with a transducer pickup but any signal with strong transients will work.
