Waste2Work SXM

Waste has value!

Hurricane Irma created an enormous amount of extra waste on Sint Maarten. This rubbish is everywhere, not only on the landfills but in the neighborhoods and the natural environment as well. This has a significant detrimental impact on the environment, the community and public health.

Waste2Work does not aim to solve the challenges of the existing landfill, instead, we focus on finding solutions for the reusable materials that could end up on the landfill in the future.

Sint Maarten could strongly benefit from a circular based economy, something that will also help to financially secure the future by creating new jobs and contribute to a diversification of the local economy.

One of the ways we offer support to the starting companies is by building an SXM Innovation Hub to provide a creative workspace where sustainable solutions can be implemented. Via this Hub, affordable work- and office space is offered for starting companies. It is a center point for entrepreneurs to share ideas and support each other in their business endeavors. Waste2Work has the vision to become a living lab where sustainable solutions are showcased to the community and will kick-start awareness in a positive way.
