Some bike shops are near trails.
Trailside Trikes basically is the trail. 😄🚴

I stopped in to visit the crew at Trailside Trikes in Florida, and the name absolutely does not disappoint. The shop sits right next to the Withlacoochee Trail, which means you can literally roll out the front door and immediately start riding.

Honestly, it’s kind of the perfect setup:

* great shop
* friendly people
* recumbents everywhere
* and miles of Florida trail riding waiting outside

Places like this remind me why local bike shops matter so much. They’re not just stores — they become hubs for community, rides, stories, coffee conversations, and helping people discover cycling in the first place.

And yes… every time I see rows of trikes outside a shop, my brain still goes:
“Yep. These are my people.” 😂

Trailside Trikes .bike

There’s something surreal about riding through New Orleans at sunrise. 🌅🚴

A few hours earlier Bourbon Street was loud, chaotic, and overflowing with energy… but in the early morning? The city feels completely different. Quiet streets. Empty balconies. Soft light bouncing off centuries-old buildings.

I rolled through the French Quarter just as the city was waking up, and honestly, it felt like seeing the “real” New Orleans hiding underneath the party reputation.

That’s one of the things I love most about traveling by bike and trike — you experience places at human speed. You notice the details. The smells. The sounds. The transition between night and morning.

And from above, New Orleans almost looks unreal. Like a movie set sitting between the river and the clouds.

Planetary Cycles in Houston is the kind of shop where you walk in “just to look”… and suddenly start convincing yourself you absolutely need another bike. 😂🚴

Seriously though, one thing I loved about this place was the range. Kids bikes, commuters, road bikes, e-bikes, recumbents, trikes… they’ve basically built a two-wheeled (and three-wheeled 😎) candy store for cyclists.

And yes… they even had a few trikes in the mix for people ready to ascend to maximum comfort and ultimate coolness. 😄

One thing I always appreciate about shops like this is that they make cycling feel approachable. Doesn’t matter if you’re:

* hardcore rider
* casual cruiser
* commuter
* adaptive rider
* family with kids
* or just curious about trikes

There’s something here for everybody.

One of my favorite things about recumbent touring is stumbling onto trails you never would’ve found on your own. 🌲🚴

While riding around Houston, the crew at Planetary Cycles pointed me toward this hidden forest trail… and suddenly I went from city riding to feeling like I was deep in the wilderness.

Sometimes you forget how small you are until you see yourself from above. 🌲🚴

Riding through the forests around Houston felt less like cycling through a city… and more like disappearing into another world entirely.

From ground level you’re focused on the trail, the turns, the roots, the rhythm.
But from the air?
You realize you’re just this tiny moving dot weaving through an ocean of trees.

One of the things I love most about travel by bike and trike is how it forces you to actually experience a place instead of just passing through it at highway speed.

Slow enough to notice.
Fast enough to explore. ❤️

And honestly… drone shots like this always make me want to keep riding just to see what’s around the next bend.

Sometimes the best moments on a tour are the ones you never planned. 🚴🔥

During my ride with Pedal Guerrero in San Antonio, we had a surprise guest join the crew — Paul from HP Velotechnik International . Suddenly this casual Texas ride turned into a rolling meetup of trike nerds, riders, veterans, adaptive cyclists, and people who simply love being outside on three wheels.

That’s one thing I’ve learned over and over on this Van & Trike Tour:
the recumbent world is small… but the community is massive.

Different brands.
Different backgrounds.
Different stories.

But everybody rolls together. ❤️

And honestly, rides like this are what make San Antonio special. Big skies, warm weather, good people, and a whole crew of “Pedal Guerrero warriors” out enjoying life.

This might honestly be one of my favorite photos from the entire Van & Trike Tour. ❤️

We took this during a ride through the San Antonio Missions with the amazing crews from Texas Parasport and Pedal Guerrero… and to me, it captures everything that makes cycling special.

Veterans.
Adaptive riders.
Recumbents.
Upright bikes.
Fast riders.
Casual riders.
People overcoming injuries.
People just out enjoying life.

All rolling together through history, sunshine, and one of the most unique cities in Texas.

That’s the thing I love most about the recumbent and adaptive cycling world — it quietly removes barriers. Suddenly age, injuries, disabilities, or “not fitting the cycling stereotype” stop mattering so much. People simply get to ride again.

And San Antonio?
What an incredible backdrop for it all. The missions, the roads, the trees, the history… absolutely unforgettable.

Everything’s bigger in Texas… including the recumbent group rides. 😄🇨🇱🚴

Had an awesome day riding around San Antonio with the crew from Texas Parasport and Pedal Guerrero. One of my favorite things about these rides is seeing such a huge mix of people, trikes, stories, abilities, and personalities all rolling together as one big moving community.

That’s the magic of recumbent cycling.
You don’t have to be the fastest.
You don’t have to fit the “normal cyclist” mold.
You just show up and ride. ❤️

And honestly… pulling into a parking lot and seeing THIS many trikes lined up still makes me smile every single time.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out for the ride and made me feel welcome in Texas!

Texas Parasport Pedal Guerrero

There’s something about old bikes that just radiates stories.

When I visited Hamilton Trike in Ontario, this beautiful vintage tandem was sitting outside the shop like a piece of cycling history quietly waiting for its next adventure.

You can almost picture another era… two riders cruising country roads with no GPS, no notifications, no algorithms… just miles, conversation, and the sound of tires on pavement.

Honestly, it fit the vibe of Hamilton Trike perfectly. A shop built around the idea that cycling is supposed to bring people together. 🚲❤️

Hamilton Trike recumbents

Walk into Ajo Bikes in Tucson and you quickly realize this isn’t a normal bike shop.

It’s like entering a candy store for recumbent riders. 😄

Two-wheel recumbents, trikes, touring setups, accessories hanging from every wall, and enough bike nerd energy to keep you wandering around for hours.

Shops like this are becoming rare — places built around passion instead of just moving inventory.

This stop was part of my Van & Trike Tour across North America visiting some of the most unique cycling shops and communities on the continent.
