This week, around 900 leaders from across Austria’s tourism industry gathered at the Austria Center Vienna for Austrian Tourism Day 2026 - with policymakers, businesses and thought leaders in the room.
The shared ambition: shifting from a model driven by volume to one built on long-term value.

Five structural shifts stood out - and they matter far beyond tourism:

From volume to value: focusing on impact, not just attendance From seasonal peaks to year-round relevance From short-term jobs to sustainable career paths From digital add-ons to AI-driven everyday operations From sustainability as a differentiator to a non-negotiable baseline

For event organizers, the takeaway is clear:
The future is not about bigger events — but better ones. More relevant. More sustainable. More integrated into a year-round strategy.
