Kaylee Hottle, the former child star of the movie Godzilla, died in a horror car crash in Maryland at the age of 18.
According to reports, speeding was the cause of the accident when the car she was in, veered off the road and crashed into a culvert.
The driver of the car was admitted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while another passenger, who was also in the vehicle at the time had declined medical treatment.
Hottle was a native signer of American Sign Language, and her family members are also deaf. Her parents, Joshua and Ketsi Hottle, shared emotional video statements about her death on social media sites.
Hottle’s heart stopped before she arrived at a hospital, transported by air from the scene of the accident, her father said.
In “Godzilla vs. Kong” and the sequel, “Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire,” Hottle played an orphaned girl named Jia who sees beyond Kong’s threatening appearance and forms a special bond with the monster, communicating with him using sign language.
A deadly clash at the Negombo prison in which over 25 people, including prison guards were killed, has raised concerns again on overcrowding at Sri Lankan prisons.
In an interview with journalist Easwaran Rutnam in 2024, Ambika Satkunanathan, Former Commission Member of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission noted the threat posed by overcrowding in Sri Lankan prisons.
