Kanishka Senanayake, the eldest son of the first Mrs World Rosy Senanayake, has passed away at the age of 41.

Kanishka died in the early hours of October 3 following a sudden illness, according to reports. News of his death was announced publicly by former Minister Harin Fernando, who paid tribute to Senanayake on social media.

“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts,” Fernando wrote in a message mourning his friend.

Kanishka Senanayake was known for his involvement in Sri Lankan politics and the corporate sector. He contested the 2020 General Election from the Colombo District as a candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). He had earlier been associated with the United National Party (UNP) and had been involved in political activities from a young age.

His mother, Rosy Senanayake, is a prominent figure in Sri Lankan public life. She served as Mayor of Colombo and as a Member of Parliament, and previously represented Sri Lanka internationally as a beauty queen.

She became the first Mrs World after winning the inaugural Mrs World title in 1984.

I still can’t believe this is Colombo. Such an awesome view from Amari Colombo.
The Colombo skyline has changed drastically over the past couple of years and it looks simply awesome at night.
No better place than the rooftop at Amari to meet this wonderful person Naomi Marshall #

Had the pleasure of interviewing Alston Koch, the Australia based Sri Lankan musician who was the first to put Sri Lanka on the international charts.

After gaining international success in the late 1970s, he was often described in the Australian media as “Asia’s King of Pop” or “Pop King of Asia.
