There is a child in someone’s therapy session right now who is being taught a strategy that nobody else around them knows exists.

Their therapist uses one set of language.

Their educator uses another.

Their family has been given different advice.

Their school has a different plan.

Everyone is working hard.

Everyone has good intentions.

But the child is left trying to make sense of five different approaches.

That inconsistency has a nervous system cost.

For children experiencing developmental vulnerability, disability, trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, or big emotional responses, predictability matters.

When the adults around them respond differently in every environment, the child is constantly having to work out:

💭 What are the rules here?
💭 Am I safe here?
💭 What happens when I make a mistake?
💭 Who can help me?

That’s a lot of cognitive and emotional energy before learning, connecting, communicating or participating can even begin.

This is why effective allied health is about so much more than working with the child.

It’s about working with the team around the child.

Families.

Educators.

Schools.

OSHC.

Support coordinators.

Carers.

Other professionals.

When we share language, strategies and goals, children don’t have to start again every time they walk into a new room.

They experience consistency.

And consistency creates safety.

At Connect.Ed, we believe some of the most meaningful outcomes happen when we invest in capacity building and collaboration — supporting the adults who spend the most time with a child to feel confident, connected and equipped.

Because children thrive when the important people in their lives are working together.

🤝 One child.
🤝 One team.
🤝 Shared understanding.

Better outcomes for children.

Jellyfish breathing 🪼

We made these 'jellyfish' to support:
✨️Deep breathing
✨️Regulation
✨️Fine motor skills

Harlem is, as always, our test driver and gave this activity a big tick of approval (although I believe his official title is Head of Quality Control and Creative Direction).

These are heading into centres as part of our Preschool Boost Menu offering. We’re SO thrilled to be delivering group therapy in care environments — increasing access for children who may not otherwise receive allied health support.

We're already having some great reflective conversations with educators about regulation and how these strategies can be embedded into everyday routines.

If you’d love the Connect.Ed allied health team in your centre, tag your service below or send us a message — we’d love to chat! 🤎

🌱 Did you know that play develops in stages?

Understanding where a child is at helps us meet them right where they are.

Children don’t “grow out” of earlier stages—they build on them.

When we support children at their current stage, we help them grow in confidence, connection and communication.

🧠 At Connect.Ed, we use play-based approaches to build skills in a way that feels safe and natural for children.

📞 Want to learn more about how we can support your child through play?
Reach out via 08 8102 0930 or [email protected] – we’d love to hear from you.

A developing brain doesn’t grow through pressure — it grows through play.

This week, we welcomed a new group of Allied Health Practitioners to our multidisciplinary Early Intervention team at Connect.Ed.

We’re growing in response to the continued demand for 1:1 outreach therapy … and because we’re thrilled to now offer Allied Health Early Intervention Support (including group therapy and educator capacity building) for early childhood services via the Preschool Boost Menu.

Our new Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists brought such a delightfully excited energy as they packed their mobile therapy kits — a favourite Connect.Ed induction moment 💼✨

We can’t wait to see the impact they’ll have for children, families, and educators across South Australia.

2026 is already looking like a goodie!

Progress is not linear — and that’s okay!

Some weeks feel smooth. Others feel messy, tangled ... or like we’re going backwards. But that’s part of growth.

🤎 Regulation takes practice.
🤎 Learning takes repetition.
🤎 Healing takes time.

It doesn’t mean your child isn’t progressing — it just means they’re human.

Keep showing up. Keep connecting. Keep going. We’re here to support you 🫶🏾
