It’s been a fabulous week / holiday so far…

The 30hrs door to door travelling time, went pretty smoothly. Compression socks, neck pillows and scarves for eye pillows gave us some rest whilst flying…

The Time Shifter app helped us land without Jet lag which also was pretty cool… sleep has found us in this Timezone and I believe the incredible hospitality from Tara & Heath has 100% helped.

A ride to Little Tunnel 30kms or so, a sore bum later and a happy heart to be in this incredible place - the Okahaghan Valley with very special people.

To celebrating and dancing my tootsies off, in honour of Tara and Heath at their wedding to just yesterday hiking up Giants Head Mountain with Mel, Jen, and Tara… one week into this wonderful adventure my heart is happy and cup certainly getting fuller…

Hugs et all,

Jen 💜

PS if you’ve read this far down - thank you!

Dancing with my best friend Tara in The b. class™️ has been phenomenal - words can’t actually express what that feels like xx 😘

My heart practice 💜

The b. class® found me when I was at my most burnt out.

A room where I did not have to perform. Movement, music and mindfulness together. Strength, softness, release and joy, and never once asking me to choose between them. On the days I had the least to give, this was the practice that gave something back.

It was created in Canada by , and it started as one dance class in a small community. b found it's way to us in Adelaide via the incredible leader and fast forward 6 years, we are able to lead this movement with more women here in Adelaide.

Here is the lovely part. As this posts, I am in Canada, on the floor, in her class, taking the method from the woman who built it. Tara has become one of my closest friends, and I am just so damn grateful for all of it!

Come and move with me when I am home. Or with our fellow leaders across Adelaide whilst I'm away www.thebclass.com

You will feel what I mean before I can explain it.

The foundation under all of it

Everything else I teach stands on Pilates.

The deep support. The breath that actually connects to something. Knowing where your ribs are, where your pelvis is, and what your body is doing when you are not thinking about it.

Pilates is the practice that taught me precision. Small movements, done well, repeated until the body stops guessing. It is unglamorous work and it is the reason the rest of it holds together.
Pilates is also just so damn portable! No reformer needed!

You feel it later, not during. You feel it when you lift something awkward and your back does not complain. When you stand for three hours and your body has an opinion about it but not a grievance. When a stronger practice suddenly gets easier and you cannot quite say why.

That is Pilates doing its quiet job underneath.

If you are building a movement practice and wondering where to start, start here. The foundation first. Everything you put on top of it lasts longer.

Four days on the floor. Someone else at the front of the room.

I did my first Yin training eight or ten years ago. Long enough that I've been teaching it for longer than I ever spent learning it. So I went back. Not to fix anything. Just to be the student again and let it land in my body instead of in my teaching notes.

There's a particular thing that happens when you're not responsible for the room. Your shoulders come down about an inch. You stop scanning. You stop counting. You're in the shape and the shape is the only thing happening.

I came home full of it. And with a sequence I've been quietly building in my head ever since.

You're getting it on the 20th September, on retreat!

Spring Expansion. Montacute Institute, 1pm to 5:30pm. Yin built for the Liver and Gallbladder meridians, which is exactly what your body wants as it comes out of the cold. A soup I'm cooking for you. Breath with Burls. Sound with Essence with Chris Toms.

Five spots left.

Link in bio. And we honestly do have the most incredible practice planned for us.

The practice that gave me my mojo back!

Twelve years ago I walked into a barre class and found my way back to myself.

Before that I had gone more than a decade without moving my body for me. Not for fitness, not for anyone else. For me. Ill health had taken a lot, and somewhere in the middle of it I had quietly put myself down.

Barre picked me back up.

It is dynamic, it is fun, and it works the body in ways nothing else quite does. The million pulses. The quick transition you were absolutely hoping for and absolutely did not get. Great music, great vibes, and a whole lot of shaking legs.

My style is my own. I sing along to the songs, except I swap the lyrics for whatever I am asking your body to do. It makes people laugh mid pulse, which I think is the point.

Thursdays in Stirling at , and online whenever you need it.

And if you have ever thought about teaching barre, come and talk to me. I think it is on its way back, and I would love to show you why.

The practice that taught me to stay

Yin asks for something the rest of my week does not.

No pulsing. No reps. No music telling your body what to do next. Just a shape, a long hold, and everything in you that wants to get up and be useful.

I love it for exactly that reason. Yin is where I meet the part of me that is still in a hurry. Three minutes into a hold there is nowhere to put the restlessness, so it softens, and something underneath it finally gets a word in.

It is not a soft practice. It is a slow one. There is a difference, and you feel it about four minutes in.

I teach yin because I need yin. Because the fascia needs time and so does the nervous system, and because there is very little else in a week that gives you permission to simply stay.

If your body has been asking for less rather than more lately, this is the one.

It also helps calm down our one busy busy Scout!

Spring is rising, and there’s space for eight more of you. 🌱

Spring Expansion is nearly here!

Sunday 20th September, Montacute Community Hall.

Four hours held for you: a Yin practice moving with the Liver and Gallbladder meridians, somatic breathwork to open spaciousness in body and mind, and sound healing with Chris Toms to let it all settle.

I’m so happy to introduce Kym Burls, who’ll be guiding us through the Somatic Breathwork journey. Kym’s approach is gentle and intentional, using the breath to create room inside you before we move into sound. It’s a beautiful addition to this immersion, and I can’t wait for you to experience it.
