We help young people and their parents or caregivers to resolve conflict and improve relationships. We have four Ruby’s houses in South Australia.
Ruby's Reunification Program helps keep families together and young people out of the homelessness sector. We also welcome young people who are currently not at home, but would like to find a way to return by providing:
- a safe place for the young person to stay, spending some nights at Ruby’s and some at home where appropriate
- family counselling
- 24-hour therapeutic support
- access to tailored services for families. Ruby’s supports 12-to-17-year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Ruby's is a free service for participants and their families. We work alongside parents and the young person to help bring families together who are experiencing relationship difficulties or conflict. While everybody’s stay at Ruby’s is different, it involves the young person spending time at one of our Ruby's houses. They can also spend some time at home while going through counselling with their family. Our youth workers and counsellors support the young person to attend school or day activities. This can help them to build confidence and independence skills, while staying in regular contact with parents and caregivers. These provide 24-hour support and supervision and are located in Enfield, Thebarton, Edwardstown and Mount Gambier. We also provide outreach counselling across metropolitan Adelaide and in the lower south-east of the state. About Uniting Communities:

Hope In Every Step!
Together we walk to support those affected by homelessness in our community and champion action for change.
We will walk from the rotunda on the corner of Wehl St North and Commercial St West to the Mount Gambier Library, where One Forty One will be providing a sausage sizzle!
We ask you to join us and consider bringing a pair of new or near new shoes to donate to those in need in our community. All types and sizes of shoes in great condition are welcome. With each step we show our support to those living without secure and safe housing. With each pair of shoes donated, we provide real support to those in need.
Donation baskets are available on the day, or at headspace Mount Gambier, Uniting Communities on Helen St, and Mount Gambier Library.
