Spare 20 seconds, you have to read this....

In 1987, American Airlines removed a single olive from each plate of salad served in first class. The total saving was reportedly a whopping $40,000 a year – and it became a lesson for all businesses on the value of cost reduction, even on supposedly insignificant expenses.
The "olive anecdote" under former American Airlines CEO Robert Crandall remains the ultimate case study in marginal gains. It proved that when you operate at a massive scale—serving thousands of meals across hundreds of daily flights—saving just a few cents per passenger effortlessly snowballs into a major corporate win.
By 2011, Northwest Airlines (now merging into Delta) adopted a similar cost-cutting strategy and saved $500,000 a year by cutting its limes into 16 slices instead of 10.

The illusion made it harder for enemy pilots in dogfights to tell which way the aircraft was facing, giving the real pilot a split-second advantage. Ferris patented the idea in 1980. It was a form of camouflage—not to hide the aircraft, but to deceive and confuse.”
