St Peter's Old Collegians Football Club has been affiliated with South Australian Amateur League since 1928.

SPOC was the second old scholars team to enter the SAAFL after Prince Alfred O.C. It ranks fourth in seasons played in the SAAFL behind Adelaide Uni, Kenilworth and PAOC. It is the only old scholars team to win the A1 premiership (1935 & 2012). It has spent more years in A1 (30) than any other old scholars club. It has had more players (6) win an A1 medal than any other club other than Adelaide College and Adelaide University. Its captain in the '30s, Bob Lee, along with old scholar Chris Sangster, captained the state in more years (4) than any other player in the SAAFL. Until 1999 it was the only old scholars club to have its first team placed no lower than A2. It has won more A2 premierships (6) than any other club In 1996 the SAAFL created the Premier and Amateur League divisions and the Club opted for the Amateur Division winning the A1 premiership. During these record-breaking feats, Steve Brookman played 310 games between 1966 and 1989. Former captain Keith Sims was President of the SAAFL from 1967 to 1996. Recently, SPOC A grade won the Division 2 Premiership (2018), Division 1 Premiership (2012) and Division 2 Premiership (2011).

Congratulations to our star midfielder and A Grade Co-Vice Captain, Malachy Carruthers, on making the Adelaide Footy League's Team Of The Year for a third time.

Mal, who also won our Club's Most Consistent A Grade player award, has been a revelation on the field and we're pleased to see his competitiveness rewarded by the League yet again.

Meantime, we are just as thrilled Club Captain, Ed Allan, and Co-Vice Captain, Henry Nelligan, both made the Filming Footy TOTY after their huge seasons.

Get around our big three leaders!

The SPOC Football Club would like to wish Jonnie Read a wonderful retirement following his final game for the club last Saturday against Tea Tree Gully.

Jonnie has been a proud member of SPOC since 2020, joining us after making the move from Melbourne. He settled into the club with ease, thanks in no small part to his warm nature and genuine care for those around him. Jonnie began his playing career on the wing before making the move to full back, where he quickly became a force to be reckoned with.

After a few years, Jonnie had the opportunity to call time on his playing career, but being the loyal person he is, he decided to stick around. From 2023 to 2025, he took on the role of A Grade assistant playing coach, while continuing to be a superstar on the field. During some challenging times for the A Grade side, Jonnie selflessly played wherever he was needed, both forward and back, always putting the team first. A career highlight came in the final game of 2023, when Jonnie produced a best-on-ground performance, kicking five goals to help keep the club in Division 1. It was a performance that perfectly summed up Jonnie’s ability to step up when the club needed him most. His efforts were further recognised in 2024 when he was selected at centre half back in the Adelaide Footy League Division 1 Team of the Year.

Jonnie then produced a fantastic 2025 season, kicking 31 goals and solidifying himself as a genuine threat every time he stepped onto the field up forward.

While his achievements on the field speak for themselves, it is Jonnie’s impact off the field that makes him truly one of a kind. Smart, caring and incredibly genuine, Jonnie is someone our younger players look up to and a true role model around the club. He is the kind of person who will always make time for a conversation, whether things are going well or not, and that is a testament to the person he is.

Congratulations, Jonnie, on a fantastic SPOC career. The club, your teammates, coaches, sponsors and supporters thank you for your incredible loyalty and contribution over the years. We wish you nothing but the very best for whatever comes next. You will always be part of the family ❤️

Consistent, tough, a great learner and loyal to the Club - excellent for Alex Lillecrapp to be named among the best players in the B Grade's win and his milestone game yesterday.

Onya Crappa!

What a finish to the season! A gritty win from our A Grade when challenged late; the Bs got it done in an arm wrestle and the Cs just fall short.

Plenty to take into next year.
