Highway Early Learning

The Under Twos Studio have recently welcomed a new basketball hoop, and the children have absolutely loved practising their throwing and aiming skills

They have been enjoying taking turns to throw the ball into the hoop, building their coordination, confidence and gross motor skills along the way.

Just letting all our families know that the Highway Early Learning Centre will be closed Monday 5th October for the Public Holiday.

Today in our preschool studio, Vincent’s mum joined us for a special
Cambodian 🇰🇭 cooking experience. She introduced the children to Bai Cha, a delicious Cambodian vegetable fried rice dish. The children learned about the different ingredients and how Bai Cha is prepared. Through this hands-on cooking experience, they explored Cambodian culture and developed an understanding of the importance of diversity and learning about different cultures.
Vincent said, “It is going to be delicious.”�Jarrod said, “It’s yummy.”

Today our Toddlers children met Lovey Dove. We sat in a circle and passed Lovey Dove around so we could all give her a cuddle.
Lovely Dove absolutely loves hugs and keeps her friends close to her heart. Lovey Doves baby lives under her wing.
Her favourite colour is lemon yellow and she lives high up in a maple tree.
Lovey Dove will spend the week in the Toddlers Studio available for hugs and loves anytime.
Lovey Dove is part of Kimochis, Kimochis being the Japanese word for feeling.

In the Toddlers Studio this morning we continued with our Spring crafts by making blossoms. Children placed scrunched up crepe paper onto sticks and placed them into their cardboard vases.

Growing our beautiful garden! A big thank you to Sophie’s mum, Emma, for kindly donating some beautiful little flowers ready for us to plant, and to Jeremy for donating delicious strawberry plants!
The preschool children had so much fun getting their hands in the soil and planting them, adding even more colour and life to our beautiful garden.

Today we painted recycled cardboard pieces in our Toddlers Studio to create beautiful flowers.

We started our week in our preschool studio learning about water safety with BlueFit Swimming!
The children had lots of fun taking part in engaging activities while learning important ways to stay safe around water.

This afternoon our children who are 2years old in the Toddlers Studio confidently thread beads on to elastic to create bright necklaces.
We called these our Spring necklaces as they’re the colours of beautiful flowers that we have noticed growing in our garden.
Adalind told her friends, “I’m wearing this tomorrow”.
This experience was fun but also promoted creativity, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
