Day 12/12: The Deli Tour 🥂🗝️
We finally made it! 12 months of sweat, setbacks, and roughly 18 revisions of plans later, we’re nearlllyyy at lock-up and ready for the fun part.
From the arches and the hallway curve to the hidden cellar and James’s American Oak windows, this project has been a labor of love (and a lot of coordination). It’s starting to look less like a construction site and more like a home.

We still have a long way to go before we’re fully finished, but we couldn’t be more proud of how far this 1920s shopfront has come.

Thank you so much for following along for the last 12 days! We have so much more to share as we get into the internal fun stuff.

Day 7/12: Framing 🔨
Finally going vertical! There’s nothing like seeing the “skeleton” of the house go up to make it all feel real.
This is where having a builder as a partner really pays off.

James won the battle on one skylight, I won the other, and he threw in a curved hallway for good measure.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a heritage reno without a few on-site adjustments. Some of our framing differed slightly from the original plans, which meant a few more variations to submit to Council—let’s call it Revision 17….

Day 8: The Roof. It’s finally time to get watertight! 🏠

I like to think I am capable of everything, then I remember how impatient I am. 🫣
But the stubbornness persists and I must be given a task! 🏚️🌪️🚨🤷🏼‍♀️

Our Master bedroom is up!! Nice to be building something for once and not demolishing.

We have 3.1m high ceilings which make the room feel slightly larger. Window still needs to go in too. 🏚️🥰🔨
