From the minute I walked into this home I loved it. There's warmth, style and grace at every turn. All that was required was the Tasmanian Oak boards needed sanding and finishing, to tie everything together.

An interesting point is that most of the boards throughout are over 4 metres long, which is something you don't find today. Some rooms don't even have any joins, just full length boards from end to end. I love this.

MERANTI - not a timber we see a lot of, which is a shame because it sands up like a dream, and the Handley Industries Lo-Sheen polyurethane brings out the grain and colours perfectly, protecting it for donkey's years.

Earlier this year, Lisa and I had the opportunity to completely transform the floors in this stunning Sorrento holiday home.

After a major renovation around 15 years ago, the house was due for a full refresh—fresh paint, new tiling, updated electrical, and a complete floor restoration.

Spread across four distinct levels, this project tested our endurance! Hauling heavy sanding machinery up and down multiple flights of stairs was a real workout, but we got the job done.

Timber: 80% Blackbutt blended with 20% Yellow Stringybark for subtle, gorgeous variation.

Finish: Superfine sanded and coated in a hard-wearing, lo-sheen polyurethane - delivering a sleek look with maximum durability for coastal living.

This amazing timber here is called 'Messmate' an inexpensive Australian Gumtree that makes for a wonderful polished floor.

Well, it was an inexpensive Australian Gumtree until some clever person in marketing said, "why don't we change the name to 'Wormy Chestnut' and drive the price right up, coz Wormy Chestnut sounds as rare as rocking horse s**t?" Hence, Wormy Chestnut was invented.

Whatever we call it, all that really matters is that we have a gorgeous timber, loaded with Aussie character. Knots, gnarly grain and sap lines throughout, makes it a floor worth looking at.

Our superfine sanding, coupled with a durable, family-friendly protective finish leaves you with a great floor, that'll last for donkey's years.
