One of the most critical phases in delivering a high-availability microwave network is the desktop design process.

Recently, our team has been working through the desktop design of a diverse microwave communications network for a major renewable energy project in Southeast Queensland, designed to provide resilient connectivity across geographically dispersed sites. The objective is simple - eliminate single points of failure and ensure operational continuity when it matters most.

A key aspect of the design has been the incorporation of diverse fibre backhaul, with Yurika forming part of the strategy to provide geographical and carrier diversity, which will deliver protection against infrastructure outages and ultimately improved network availability. When it comes to designing 4G and 5G networks, predictive coverage mapping is a powerful planning tool, but validating those predictions with real-world measurements ensures networks deliver the performance operations depend on.

MarchNet recently completed a detailed coverage assessment of its ProConnect 4G and 5G dedicated mobile data network deployment at a major coal mine in central Queensland, combining carrier-grade RF modelling with real-world drive testing validation.

Using advanced propagation modelling, network coverage was predicted across the operational area and subsequently validated through extensive field surveys. The results showed strong correlation between predicted and measured coverage, confirming that the network is performing in line with design expectations and providing confidence for onsite operations and for future planning and expansion.

Keeping remote workforces connected where traditional networks can't reach.
We're proud to share a case study highlighting how MarchNet delivered a resilient, high-capacity internet and managed Wi-Fi solution for a major pumped hydro energy storage project in regional Queensland.

Faced with rugged terrain and no existing telecommunications infrastructure, the initial deployment required rapid, reliable connectivity for an accommodation village with more than 300 residents. MarchNet designed and deployed a diverse LEO satellite solution, combining multiple satellite constellations with advanced SD-WAN technology to deliver high availability, performance and scalability.

The result? Reliable connectivity that supports worker wellbeing, productivity and safety, facilitating the construction of critical renewable energy infrastructure projects in some of Australia's most challenging environments.
