R.M. Models
I am a Brit based in Brisbane. This page is about my passion for scale modelling. This page is about my passion for military modelling.
I am an independent scholar specialising in air power and the history of air warfare. I am currently the Senior Historian within the City Architecture and Heritage Team at Brisbane City Council in Australia. I am also the Editor-in-Chief of 'From Balloons to Drones,' a scholarly website dedicated to air power history: - https://balloonstodrones.com/
I am lucky enough to call my interest and passion my profession. I have been modelling since 1993 and, of course, like many of us, I have had the usual 'break' due to family, studying and growing up. However, my enjoyment of the hobby has never left me. I started off as an aircraft modeller but then moved on to armour and principally figures. I now do a bit of anything and everything.

Here are the results of some painting from yesterday's club meeting. I painted the face on Le Fifre. I only laid down the initial highlights and shadows in oils. I will return to reinforce the shadows and highlights once it is fully dry.

Sad news from Andrea Miniatures. The end of an era. I remember them being one of the key traders at Euro Militaire in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

If you see this post, share on of your favourite paintings.
Grenadier of the Old Guard by Edouard Detaille (to be honest, anything by Detaille). I was lucky enough to see the original in Paris a couple of years ago.

This lovely piece arrived from Spain recently. Forget about 3-D sculpting or the tosh produced with the aid of AI; this is a real bit of sculpting. Designed by the maestro that is Stefano Cannone. Poste Militaire originally produced it, then Elite Miniatures re-released it. Both were produced in white metal. FeR Miniatures has now re-released it in resin. Great to see this classic back on the market.

After finishing off the Renault FT, I have decided to dust off another shelf queen. This time it is the Vespid Models 1/72 Comet MkIB. I did some work on the turret tonight, including applying some Mr Surfacer 1500 to create a light casting effect. This will be knocked back a bit more. I have included a photo of one of the smoke launchers. This item consists of 4 parts, and at 1/72, it is very small!!
