It's all about Jesus | Creative Christian Mama Growing up in Chinese churches in Australia, worship was mostly hymns sung in Mandarin or Taiwanese.
I first encountered Jesus at the dinner table at the age of four when my mum said it was my turn to say grace for the first time. My mum always started prayers with “Lord Jesus” (in Chinese), so as I said these words for the first time myself, I just knew in her heart that Jesus was indeed my Lord! So when I attended my first Christian rock concert as a teenager, it changed the course of my life. For the first time, I realised that I could be bold about sharing Jesus in the style of my lived experience as a kid growing up in Australia. That same year, I started my first Christian band and ran my first evangelistic concert where one girl was saved! For 30 years, this is still my heart, to share the gospel through music that speaks to the culture of the time. Having pursued this passion in both conservative evangelical and charismatic ministries as music director and in various pastoral roles, I hope to be a resource to the church at large. Currently based Brisbane, Australia, I have written and produced Bible-based songs in many genres, including songs for pre-schoolers (Lifespeaks Kids), Lofi Hip hop beats (Raifu Supikusu), Mandarin worship songs (Future Generation 未來世代), Chillout (Lifespeaks) and Christian rock songs under my own name. I am currently working on an album of worship songs that express the unchanging truth of the gospel in fresh melodies for a new generation of believers.
Should musicians be paid to play in church?
I thought I knew the answer to this until this happened to me… I accept full responsibility for what happened. I just hope others can learn from my mistakes.

Christian music and money.
The recent videos by Jonathan Allen Wright on YouTube have affirmed many of my questions about the ethics of money in the Christian music world. I’d really like to talk this out with other like-minded Christian artists who would like to stay pure in their art, while still able to make an honest living as well. Please let me know your thoughts about this issue.

Worship fail or God interruption?
How often do we allow God to interrupt our plans so He can do something far greater?

How did you become a worship leader?
In the 90s, those of us who grew up in church were often thrown in the deep end. We were just handed responsibilities and had to learn how to trust God to carry them out.

Whose glory are you creating for?
In this conversation, the Lord showed me that works created for His glory will always glorify Him. Even beyond the lifetime of the person who made it. Isn’t that amazing!
