A snowy introduction to the lore... ❄️🎄
When I sit down with my studio journals, I am intentionally crafting full-length Middle Grade Christmas fiction (perfect for ages 8 and up).
Writing for young imaginations requires fast pacing, vivid wonder, and high-stakes adventure.

This snippet introduces our brave young protagonist on a race against time. I've masked his true name for now to protect the book's plot, but his sense of wonder is what fuels the vibrant colors of our physical collections at Think to Draw.

Studio Notebook Brainstorm... 🎸🔥
This snippet isn't from my active Christmas middle grade book layout—this is a raw, instinctual idea that hit me in the studio.
I’ve been playing around with a dark, whimsical holiday concept, and my mind suddenly forced two of my favorite worlds to collide.
I started imagining how The Gatekeeper character would react if the rhythmic rumble of AC/DC’s Hells Bells echoed right through to his secluded realm.
Sometimes the art demands a story, and sometimes a random midnight thought demands a whole new manuscript.
I love being completely true to how these concepts manifest.

To be completely true to how my mind works, my creative process doesn't follow a straight line. Usually, I write a scene first and then draw it. But with this design, the exact opposite happened.
I saw him clearly in my imagination: The Gatekeeper, silently patrolling the inner boundary of a completely secluded, forgotten graveyard, a place where the worst of the worst are supposed to rest.The visual image was so strong and haunting that it instantly sparked a brand-new holiday manuscript in my head that I hadn't even planned on writing!
The art literally dictated the future of the story.I wanted to capture that exact moment of instinctual creation and bring it into your daily routine.
