Come along for a relaxed and welcoming morning of songs, stories, play, craft and morning tea.

Sing & Play Together is a welcoming playgroup for young children and their parents and carers, with plenty of opportunities to sing, play, connect and have fun together.

🍎 Feeding Children Under 5, Free Family Information Session

We are pleased to welcome Nutrition Australia and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics students from the University of Canberra to Kippax Kids for a relaxed and practical session for parents and caregivers of young children.

Come along to learn about supporting positive relationships with food, introducing new foods, navigating selective or fussy eating, and creating enjoyable mealtime experiences.

Children are very welcome to come along. Our playgroup space will be open with toys and activities available, so families can participate in a relaxed, child friendly environment.

📣 Have your say on women’s health care in the ACT

Health Care Consumers' Association Inc(HCCA) is inviting people to share their experiences of women’s health care in the ACT and their thoughts on what best practice care should look like.

Feedback from the survey will help inform HCCA’s submission to the Australian Parliament’s Select Committee on Women’s Health.

The survey is open to anyone with lived experience of these health services, including transgender, intersex, non-binary and gender-diverse people. Responses are confidential, and HCCA is interested in hearing about both positive and negative experiences.

Looking for a space to run a playgroup or child and family program? 🌈

Did you know the Kippax Kids playgroup space in Holt is available for community groups and organisations to hire?

Our space is designed for young children and families and can be used for community run playgroups, parenting sessions, early years activities and other child and family programs.

The space includes an indoor playroom with heating and cooling, a reading corner, kitchenette and children's bathroom and change facilities, as well as a large enclosed outdoor playground. Groups also have access to toys, books, craft supplies and other resources suitable for children aged 0 to 5 years.

📅 Available Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm during school terms
💛 Free hire for community groups and not for profit organisations
🕒 Need a different time? Use of the space outside our regular hours may also be possible by arrangement, so please feel free to get in touch and have a chat.

Very sad news, but what a wonderful legacy she leaves behind ❤️📚

Today, we join communities around the world in remembering Dolly Parton, a remarkable storyteller, humanitarian and champion for children.

Dolly believed that every child should have the opportunity to dream, and that books could help plant the seeds of those dreams. Inspired by her father, who never had the opportunity to learn to read or write, she founded Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 1995.

What began in her hometown in Tennessee grew into a worldwide movement. More than 300 million books have since found their way into the hands and homes of young children.

That legacy also reached Belconnen.

In October 2023, Imagination Library Kippax became one of the first Imagination Library programs in the ACT. Since then, children across our local community have experienced the delight of finding a new book addressed especially to them in their letterbox each month. Within every envelope is more than a book. There is an invitation for a family to pause, read, talk, imagine and spend precious time together.

Dolly showed the world that one generous idea, nurtured with care and shared by many, can travel far beyond where it began. From the hills of Tennessee to homes here in Kippax and across Belconnen, her vision continues to open stories, strengthen families and inspire children to dream.

Although the world has lost an extraordinary woman, her story is far from over. It lives on each time a child opens a book. Each time a parent and child read together. Each time a new dream begins.

Thank you, Dolly, for believing in children and for reminding us that every child’s dreams matter.

Your legacy will continue to arrive in letterboxes, one book at a time.

Lunch at the Wild West Saloon Join Kippax Uniting Church for games, music and delicious food, as we raise money for UnitingCare Kippax's food relief programs.

🥦🍎🎈 Foodie Fun Play at Kippax! 🎈🍇🥕

A big thank you to Dr Chloe Lim from Twistyfic, Nutrition Australia, the University of Canberra, and everyone involved in bringing Foodie Fun Play to UnitingCare Kippax. We were so pleased to have the opportunity to be involved and to welcome so many families into our space.

The show was lots of fun, interactive and engaging, with plenty of laughs along the way. Even the grown-ups learnt a few things! 😊

Foodie Fun Play brought together science, play and healthy eating in such a creative way, encouraging children to explore fruit and vegetables through storytelling, balloon art, tasting and plenty of curiosity. We also had lots of fun feeding Bob the balloon caterpillar and discovering some of the different foods he enjoyed. 🐛🍎🥕🍇🥦🫑💧🔬🎈

It was also wonderful to see all the amazing food creations, and the very cute mini fruit and vegetable balloon friends the children created. There was certainly plenty of creativity and imagination on display! 🍓🫛🥕🍇🥝🫐🥒🍉🍊🫑😊

Most of all, it was lovely to see so many children, parents and carers laughing, joining in, creating and having fun together.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible, and to all the families who came along and made the day such a lovely one.
