Back to the tropical island of soirées, sailing, superyachts and winter sun. Here are some of my camera roll highlights from Hamilton Island during this year’s otherworldly and colourful Race Week.

Two weeks ago and a group of excitable photographers were transported to an Italian summer holiday, but really we were in the hills of Byron Bay attending two full and magical days of photography school. It was the most wonderful workshop, I still feel like I’m digesting the delight of it all - all five senses worth.

We set up our workshop camp at Lo Scoglio, a villa so stunning we all had trouble putting our cameras down. Thank you Angelica Arnott for allowing my dream of hosting a workshop in your holiday home to come true.

The dream continued on the afternoon of the first day, when we were all transfixed and transported from a very special guest speaker session by helloemilie. Was that even real?! Emilie! We were the luckiest to have you join us, to see behind the lens of your creative process, and be in your sweet company. Thank you for your generous knowledge sharing, and your kindness.

In between photography courses there were of course food courses. Super chef Attilio Maiorano really solidified the Italian holiday vibes by combining local Byron produce with the passion and love for food you see straight from the hills of Abruzzo (where I met Atillio’s amazing sister Daniela Maiorano, the other half of their joint buisness Daniela & Attilio Maiorano). Thank you Atillio and team Cody and Preston, for spoiling us rotten, serving us coffee from our very own butlers pantry cafe window, posing for photos mid cooking, etc etc. Ps - the tiramisu recipe is still holding airtime in our post workshop group chat.

And the most important part, the workshop participants. You guys! I watched in awe as our beautifully diverse group quickly grew in confidence and skill by all of you sharing your questions, insight, creativity, vulnerability and viewfinders. You all individually and collectively blew me away. Those keen to see, I’ve reposted their posts (including their beautiful words!) from the workshop on my repost page. Keep in mind that some of these humans came to the workshop as pure beginners. What the heckeyyyy?!

So full of thanks from this workshop.

Postcards from the fjords of Norway, for you.

And a little back story, from me.

I knew exactly where I wanted to be for the last day of my 3rd decade and the start of my 4th. North, with Ned. So we jumped in the car in Sweden and drove - the most beautifully breathtaking drive, along rivers, through tunnels, over mountain passes - to a secluded fjord hamlet in Norway. As soon as we arrived I was instantly transported to the golden age of travel, a time I dream about often, rich in stories of past adventures, royals, writers and lovers. We were met with long slow uninterrupted days filled with favourites, both cosy and adventurous in equal measure. We hiked valleys, swam in alpine streams and found and ate wild blueberries. In the evening, after dinner in the orangerie, there was tea by the fire place while listening to the piano, a moment with Karen Blixen’s 1920’s Burberry riding boots, and staring out the window at waterfalls, swooping gulls and the almost midnight sun. I’ll never, ever forget this. The happiest birthday yet.

It’s here! It’s finally time to share with you the book project that we have been dreaming and scheming and styling and shooting for the past three years - FACTORY CONVENT SCHOOLHOUSE HOME, published by Artisan Books and with words by Michelle Crawford is coming out this October! Our book is a celebration of homes that weren’t always homes to begin with. Where curious and creative humans have transformed utilitarian and unusual buildings as beautiful and soulful places to live. We travelled all over the world to pull together interiors and stories that inspired us most. Within its pages you’ll find a mattress FACTORY in Melbourne, Australia (Lynda’s never seen before newly renovated home!); a medieval CONVENT in Tuscany, Italy, reshaped by a truly visionary mother and daughter team; the vibrant rescuing and redesigning of an abandoned SCHOOLHOUSE in Merida, Mexico; plus 19 more gorgeous spaces from across Europe, Australia, Japan and the USA that people now lovingly call HOME.

We can’t wait for this book to be out in the world and hope that you can get your hands on a copy to pour over the pages and soak up all its delicious images, stories and inspiration.

10 years ago, just a few days shy of my 30th birthday, I flew to the north of Sweden to dine and stay , ’s then well prized restaurant (it’s closed now). It was the most generous gift from my late and very dear friend Beth Kirby | Local Milk. A gift that totally blew my mind and guided me into the best decade yet. I’ll never ever forget my first ever food and w**e pairing - especially the chardonnay with ‘Atlantic crab in a very good cream’, the choreography of the waiters delivering the dishes to each table, and running up the hill outside the tipi after dinner, very full and happy, Jämtland glowing all around me in the midnight sun. The photos are somewhere, I really should dig them up again.

A couple of weeks ago, just a few days shy of my 40th birthday, I booked in for Ned the dog and I to dine and stay at , Magnus’ new restaurant and hotel in the south of Sweden. It was ridiculously beautiful and delicious. The staff were so welcoming and added so many thoughtful touches. It was a total immersion into all the best Swedish things - produce, design, hospitality and purpose that is greatly inspired. Again, I was totally blown away. The langoustines, that bright pink raspberry sauce, the cupboard full of bath robes and shelves of clogs to take to the beach, the little ‘F’ embroidered on all the linens, our room with an extended sun room whose windows could all be opened to let in the summer Skåne air, everyone’s love for Ned, and just like Fäviken, the breakfast the next morning was next level exciting. I also got some buns from the bakery before I left to take as road trip treats to continue my birthday adventure up north. It was the best way I could ever imagine bookending this most magical decade of mine. Here’s to the next best.
