Every student has their own way of approaching learning. Research with school students has found a few common learning strategy profiles:

🧠 The Strategy Mixer — tries different approaches and changes strategy depending on the task.

📚 The Organiser — likes structure, clear steps and knowing what information matters most.

💭 The Mental Processor — prefers to think things through quietly and work things out in their head.

🌱 The Developing Strategist — may rely on a smaller range of strategies and is still building new ways to approach learning.

Of course, children don’t fit neatly into one box. That’s why at IV Learning, we take the time to understand how each child learns and build an individual approach around their strengths, needs and learning habits. Deeper understanding, more effective learning 🤓

Australia’s reading and maths results have hit record lows. But how does Australia compare internationally? 🌏

The latest PISA results, from the Programme for International Student Assessment, compare the performance of 15 year olds across countries and economies.

Australia scored:
🔹Reading: 491, compared with the OECD average of 461
🔹Maths: 478, compared with 463
🔹Science: 509, compared with 482

So despite recording its lowest ever results in reading and maths, Australia is still performing above the OECD average in all three areas.

Australia also remains behind some of the highest performing education systems, including Singapore, Japan and Korea, which scored higher across reading, maths and science 📈
