Suzi Raqs

From Monday 26th October I’ll be starting a new bespoke beginner class in Raqs Sharqi. Classes will be at my small home studio on week days, during the day.

Let me know in the comments or DM me your preferred day and time (Thursdays not available.)

Hope everyone is enjoying time off between terms. The classes will restart on Monday 12 October with Xaeda at the reins for the first two weeks, then I’ll be back for the remaining six weeks until the Christmas break.

I have also had interest in a new day-time bespoke beginners class. Let me know if you’d like to join us, I’ll put up more details nearer the time.

All about Monday night classes!

This week I finished teaching classes for term three, and Xaeda will be stepping in for the rest of the term while I take a break and do some family things.

For the next five weeks, from Monday, 17 August, to Monday 14 September, Xaeda will be teaching a beautiful fan-veil choreography.

After that there will be a three week break (for school holidays, and a public holiday,) then Xaeda will again be stepping in for the first two classes of term four until I come back on board for class three.

Note: All day-time bespoke/beginner classes are paused Monday 17 August to Monday 26 October.

See you all at the end of October, unless I see you at Extravaganza tomorrow!

Shimmy Mob cafe will be at Extravaganza tomorrow, and it’s going to be a huge day of dance! Performances now run from 12:30 to 5:30pm, (I’ll share the run sheet in the comments).

Had a lovely weekend at Shimmy By The Sea, Sawtell. Only three workshops over two days, and some optional socialising at meal times meant I could enjoy the weekend without overloading my brain and draining my social battery.

I learned more about Baladi, and drumming, and learned a short veil choreo. And Ruby Phoenix ‘accidentally’ became the warm up act for the Saturday night band at the pub. 😉

Thank you Helen Tucker for organising everything. See you next time. :)

Next stop Extravaganza! Lots of dance schools performing on stage, and a treasure trove of dance goodies for sale.

And for those that like to play ‘spot the Suzi’ I’ll be on stage with my Monday class dancers, Sacred Lotus, Empyrean Dance, and Shimmy Mob.

The official photos will be released soon, but here are some happy snaps from the Abbey Medieval Festival. As you can imagine, we can’t be seen holding phones once the public are in so we don’t manage to get many pictures.

I’ll be at the Abbey Medieval Festival with some of Ruby Phoenix Fusion Belly Dance this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. (10-12 July.)

Once again we will be reenacting at the Janissary Barracks.

Come to our Turkish/Ottoman dance workshops at 11:30am on Friday, and 1:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

You’ll also find us dancing before the Turkish Oil Wrestling, and whenever we feel the urge.

We also love to dance with others, come and see us and we’ll show you some moves.

Photos below of us in the parades last year.

Lots of photos just got released by Abbey Medieval Festival, (link in comments if you’d like to check it out.)

These photos are of the parades on Saturday and Sunday morning.
