SLAPBOX came about over a cup of coffee with my friend who mentioned about a wooden box that you could play. Intrigued by this as soon as I arrived home I googled box drum and to my amazement this object had a name " Cajon "

Well to state the obvious I fell in love with this little wooden drum. The simplicity of the design understates the different tonal qualities you get from the wood used giving each cajon a unique resonating sound. This brings out the beautiful natural featured grain of the plywood and retains the tonal qualities of the wood to enhance the deep resonating base. We choose not use polyurethane products as they act like a rubber glove over the wood restricting the tonal quality as nature meant it for you to hear. All of our cajons are handmade from Russian Birch Plywood B/BB grade. Beautifull featured grain throughout and simply divine to work with. We just love making cajons and I hope you enjoy experiencing this wonderful wooden percussion box drum as we do.
