🧡 BEING SUNSMART 💛

At First Friends, keeping the children safe in the sun is a priority.

Living in Australia means our children are exposed to some of the highest UV levels in the world, making sun safety an important part of everyday life. By introducing sunsmart habits from an early age, we can help the children build routines that will stay with them as they grow.

Our educators ensure that the children wear hats when outdoors, have access to shaded play areas and are supported to develop positive sun-safe habits throughout the year. We wear hats all year round to help make sun protection a normal part of being outside.

We also closely monitor UV levels, using this information to further guide our sunsmart practices.

As we move into the warmer months, remember to SLIP, SLOP, SLAP and SEEK 🧡☀️💛

🧡 TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY 💛

Today we welcomed some swashbuckling pirates to First Friends for Talk Like a Pirate Day. The children used their imaginations, navigating journeys across the seven seas in search of treasure. We had so much fun 🧡

💛 R U OK? DAY 💛

Today, the children and educators came together to recognise R U OK? Day by wearing yellow. Throughout the day, we explored emotions, empathy, kindness and cooperation through conversations and experiences.

Our educators were invited to think about how they are feeling, what they are looking forward to and how a simple act of kindness has made them feel better.

A simple conversation can go a long way. Let’s make the time to ask, listen, encourage action and check in.

🧡 FIRST KICK TUESDAYS 💛

Every Tuesday, small groups of our Wetj and Yongka children participate in First Kick sessions. The aim of these sessions is to develop fundamental gross motor skills. The weekly incursions also promote teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes towards physical activity.

Aligned with the EYLF, First Kick complements our educational program by supporting the children’s holistic development while fostering an enjoyment of movement and sport.

Thank you for working alongside our children, First Kick. We LOVE our sessions.
