Trinity College Colac
Official page for Trinity College Colac. From this school emerged St. The need for expansion at St. In the period 1979–1982 the title used was St.
In 1888, the Sisters of Mercy arrived in Colac and, in the following year, opened a school in buildings erected in Calvert Street. Joseph’s College, which provided secondary education from Years seven to twelve for girls and boys until 1967. In February 1967, at the request of the local parishes, the Christian Brothers began Trinity College, a secondary school for boys from Years 7 to 10. It was situated in Pound Road at a site that had been purchased in several transactions from 1957 onwards, partly by Monsignor James Gleeson, who had strongly sought the coming of the Brothers. Joseph’s College on the Calvert Street site led to the transfer of its secondary component to a new building on the Pound Road site in 1976. The transfer was completed while Father Coley McKenzie was parish priest. At the request of the new parish priest of Colac, Father John Martin, the Sisters of Mercy and the Christian Brothers agreed to the amalgamation of the two Colleges. This began in 1979 for a three-year trial period and was confirmed as a permanent arrangement in 1982. Joseph’s-Trinity College and both of the original crests and sets of colours were maintained. From 1983 onwards, the single title “Trinity College” came into official use and a new crest was adopted which was based on the original St. Joseph’s crest. The new set of colours of red and blue, embodied one from each of the previous combinations of red and black (Trinity College) and blue and gold (St. Joseph’s). Trinity College Colac is committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children and young people in our care.

Our Year 9 students recently took part in Wellbeing Day, with a full day of workshops focused on building confidence, resilience, self-awareness and positive relationships.
The girls participated in an engaging program delivered by Enlighten Education, exploring confidence, resilience, relationships and a strong sense of belonging.
The boys took part in another valuable day with The Man Cave, focusing on emotional literacy, healthy masculinity, respectful relationships, mental health, consent and building stronger connections with themselves and others.
Thank you to Enlighten Education and The Man Cave for providing our students with meaningful opportunities to learn, reflect and develop skills that support their wellbeing.

Trinity Day was a fantastic way to finish Term 3, with a great day of food, fundraising, friendly competition and plenty of Trinity spirit.
Students ran a variety of stalls to raise funds, while our Year 12 Boys took on staff in netball and the Year 12 Girls challenged staff to a game of football. It was also a special day for our Year 12 VM students as they celebrated their final day at Trinity.
A huge thank you to all our competitors, stall operators, gold coin donors and enthusiastic supporters who helped make the day so memorable. What a way to finish the term!

Six students competed at the Chess State Qualification Tournament in Werribee last week, representing the College with determination, resilience and great sportsmanship. Every student secured at least one win, with Max (Year 8) coming agonisingly close to State Finals qualification, missing out by just one win. Congratulations to all six students on a fantastic effort.

Yesterday was R U OK? Day, an important reminder to check in on the people around us and make time for meaningful conversations. A simple question, a genuine conversation and taking the time to listen can make a real difference. Let’s continue to look out for one another and support our students, staff, families and friends, not just on R U OK? Day, but every day.

A fantastic day out for our Year 7 and 8 basketball teams, taking on Colac Secondary College, Lorne P-12 College and Apollo Bay P-12 College.
All Trinity teams went undefeated, showcasing great skill, teamwork and determination throughout the day. A special mention must go to our student umpires. Their commitment to keeping the games running and ensuring everyone had the opportunity to compete was fantastic and greatly appreciated.
Well done to all our players and umpires on a fantastic day. With the Greater Western competition on the horizon, these teams are certainly ready to test themselves against some strong competition. We can’t wait to see what they can do!
