SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND A W WIND?

It is a fun place, in WNW/W. Waves are fun. Wind in a W will be variable. But at Halls Head it's a side shore NOT onshore.

We used to keep it a bit of a secret. But no one goes anymore. A lot of fun. In WNW/W. Variable and gusty. But if you are competent. And can get in and kite down before a squall arrives, learn how to spot them etc. Fun.

FRIDAY...

Two kinds of rider.

One sees solid SSE and adds it up. Back Beach Lancelin hitting waves on the run out and getting silly air or side shore wind and 3m plus, waves EVERYWHERE. And makes it happen. Goes. Ridiculous fun. *If the forecast is accurate.

Other rider think's about driving a long way and maybe there's no one else there, and plays it safe, and tries to find a rideable metro spot.

That's a bit ouchy perhaps if you are the guy bouncing around in the river. Sorry.

If you are (name changed, Mack Jitchelson), and you have already booked a day off, and will be launching off the tether on the sand. You may be unsurprisingly all by yourself and shredding.

WHAT'S ROD UP TO?

Many of you have written back and said how much you enjoy seeing Rod in his youth. His interesting inventions, past and present.

Rod?

Rocket Rod. Rod George. The real life Aquaman Tony Stark hybrid. Tinkerer. Tech genius.

Apparently he's in the shed again. And is bringing back the 70s long-ish forks and ridiculous handlebars, easy rider style of bike. With tiny batteries under the seat. No one will know it's an E bike. Another one of Rod's good ideas.

MAYBE YOU CAN...

Make a Silk Purse out of a Sows Ear.

That's a nothing special kind of late in the cool season low, not a lot of nice tight lines/isobars.

But.

If you time it brilliantly, and are okay with the variability, there's possibly a couple of good NNW hours and then a couple of SW hours on the back end.

But.

Your timing is going to be key.

As always. Skip the WNW/W/WSW bit.

That's the wind that a Perth kiter is best to skip.

Could you sn**ch a couple of good sessions from it? Possibly.

10AM...WSW AND ENOUGH...

Barometer on the rise, wind really should shift SW and drop back. Best time to ride around Perth today? Now, soon, don't either is a good idea.

24-26 S AT THE GARDEN ISLAND WIND METER...

GO TIME there.

Lancelin in a good SSE wind and swell up, dream day. Has 20 plus at 650am.

Enjoy that day wherever you ride.

SUNDAY...

Flat water people might have a very nice session in SSE, Pond works, but being a Sunday and a small space. Sunrise a good idea. Once you start hearing pumps, outa there.

Wave people. If you know you know.

South Passage on SSE and 4m swell. Cheaper than a trip to Mauritius and an offshore session on One Eye. Really as good as it gets. SSE South Passage. But a spooky offshore which will keep the usual low numbers on the spot down a little more. Maybe the best wave session of your year or life? Go to know. Back Beach waves for the less adventurous? In SSE? REALLY GOOD. Better than you'd think, get off the shore though, 500m out, a fun place to be.

Made it's way through to SW finally. Barometer on the up means wind on the down. So a better time to go? Now. Morning.
