This is my youngest grandson Remy (13) modelling a new range of merchandise I’ve created for Save Westernport of long and short sleeved t-shirts and tote bags.
The animals are all iconic Westernport inhabitants and I painted and drew them for this project.

I co-founded Save Westernport over 8 years ago to stop the inappropriate development of this magnificent . We won our first campaign against AGL.

There are only a few styles shown here.

Here’s a bit more info:

We’re excited to launch our new range of t-shirts and totes featuring original hand painted images of iconic Westernport marine life.
The hand-painted images are printed on quality short sleeve t-shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts and totes by one of Save Westernport’s founders, Candy Spender-van Rood who created the range to reflect the animals and colours of bay.
This range features three of the bay’s most iconic animals: the Pied Oystercatcher, the Australian Fur Seal pup and the Weedy Sea dragon

Every piece is printed using DTF, a water-based, low-impact printing method, onto garments from AS Colour, a manufacturer recognised for its ethical and sustainable practices across cotton sourcing, dyeing and factory conditions.
A range made with the same care for the environment that it’s designed to represent. Purchase them here or  in person at our stalls in various markets around Victoria.

This is a shoot I did with my younger grandson Remy (13) to model the new range of merch I designed and illustrated for Save Westernport - the environmental organisation I co-founded over 8 years ago here in the Mornington Peninsula.

I used on my iPad and tricked up this photo I took in my studio of my mannequin, Cruella, modelling new pieces I’ve made (from old components from the nineties when the jewels were 🤩galactic glam).

In this version Cruella is probably more of a ‘Kylie.’ 😘

Big Hearted bling earrings are unique, from my component collection of 30 years ago!
The large vintage Swarovski crystal hearts sparkle like crazy, and are set in signature 22ct satin gold-plated pewter components we made for them all those years ago.
There is only one pair, this is it.

I dare you to go to my online store at:
www.candyspender.com.au and you’ll see them featured on the landing page.

Don’t wait too long, as I don’t expect them to last.

Photographs of me in my studio by

The first one is of me as I am now, with photos behind me from when I was 17, my first year at The South Australian School of Art, when it was in Stanley St. North Adelaide.

There are some studio shots, shots of me in my garden, and also in relation to my beloved Westernport Bay. She gave pictures for me to use for my story, and pictures of me in my life.

Bri is an extraordinary photographer and artist, I felt seen on many levels.
She captured deep portraits of me in my different facets.
