Yesterday, our Year 10 English students welcomed Bell Shakespeare to the college for a special performance of Macbeth, bringing the play they have studied to life.

After unpacking Shakespeare’s language, characters and themes in the classroom, students saw the choices, conflicts and complexities of Macbeth unfold on stage; strengthening their understanding of one of the world’s most influential plays.

Shakespeare is a valued part of our English program at John Fawkner College, with students exploring his plays across Years 8, 9 and 10.

✨️✨JF️C Careers Expo 2026!✨️✨️

Year 10-12 students participated in the annual careers expo where they were able to learn about university, TAFE and apprenticeship pathways.

Students engaged with the exhibitors and ask some great questions that will prompt them to think about what their future career could look like.

Thanks to all who participated!

🌱 Reviving the veggie patch at John Fawkner College ✨

This week VCE-VM Year 12 students rolled up their sleeves to bring new life to an old vegetable planter, guided by the amazing team at Fawkner Food Bowls. Together, they planted fava beans, lettuces, dill, kale, rainbow chard, bok choi and beetroot.

They've all been given homework to think about some significant cultural foods they can source and grow next term. Excited to see what comes next!

You may have recently heard your child talking about LEAP – the Learning Enrichment and Acceleration Program we are launching for Year 7 and Year 8 students. As part of the selection process, all Year 7 and 8 students will take part in a testing session in Week 8 focused on creative thinking, reasoning and problem solving.

We’re excited to officially share that in Term 2 we will be launching a new program for a select group of Year 7 and 8 students called LEAP – Learning Enrichment and Acceleration Program.

LEAP is designed to provide students with greater academic challenge, deeper learning experiences and opportunities to extend their thinking. It will bring together students who are ready to stretch themselves, think creatively and take on new challenges in a supportive environment.

This program reflects our commitment to academic achievement and providing engaging, high-quality learning experiences for all students. It also represents an exciting step forward as we continue to grow and strengthen what we offer as a school.

More information will be shared with students and families soon.

We’ve been building something special for our students - and it’s almost time to share it with you. Keep watching this space! 👀
