Vibe the Light: a disco for young people and carers in Kilsyth Two age-based sessions at Japara on Saturday 10 October, with dancing, activities and a place to take a break.

Two appealing events at the same time are alternatives, not an itinerary.

On 22 September, the Jordan Gould author session at Croydon and Flying Bookworm performance at Realm both start at 10:30am. Showing that clash upfront helps families choose between meeting an author and watching stories performed.

They offer different ways into books: meeting an author in Croydon, or seeing storytelling performed at Realm. Because both begin at 10:30am, plan around one session rather than treating them as a two-stop outing.

Two related library activities can serve different needs in the same morning.

Realm’s emergency-services Human Book event offers conversation about the work, while English and German storytime introduces the theme through stories, songs and craft for ages 0–6. Explaining the different formats helps families choose.

The free event starts at 10am at Realm Library in Ringwood. At 10:30am, the library also has an English and German family storytime with an emergency-services theme, using stories, songs and craft for children aged 0–6.

Pack lunch and add a playground stop afterwards if the weather suits. Ringwood Lake Park, at 172 Maroondah Highway, has play equipment, picnic shelters, barbecues and toilets. It is a separate stop from Realm; plan the transfer to suit your family.

For the park, general parking is accessed from Mt Dandenong Road. The Maroondah Highway entrance serves the accessible parking bays. For Realm, Ringwood Station and the bus interchange are directly opposite.

Your Library lists both sessions as requiring no booking. Children under 12 must have an accompanying adult at the Human Book event. Check current arrangements before leaving home.

Japara’s Big Science – Big Fun! is a one-hour activity in Kilsyth. For families comparing holiday programmes, the useful price is the cost of everyone attending, including the accompanying adult.
