Got a creative project in your head? Make some space for it.

Teen Studio is a relaxed art space for teens aged 12+ to come along, work on their own projects and hang out with other young creatives.

Bring your sketchbook, painting, illustration, mixed media project or whatever you’re currently into. There’s no set project to follow and no expectation that everyone makes the same thing.

Artist and mentor Melissa O'Shea is there to offer ideas, encouragement and a helping hand when you need it, while giving you plenty of space to figure things out for yourself.

It’s a chance to spend an hour each week doing something creative, trying new things and developing your own style.

📅 Thursdays from 15 October | 5.15–6.15pm | Ages 12+
8 weeks | $245 incl all materials

Come along, make something, work on your ideas and enjoy some creative time each week.

There’s plenty of room for imagination too. Have an idea you’d love to make? Bring it to Simone and explore what’s possible.

✏️ What would your character look like?

In Term 4, young artists can bring their characters to life with artist O’Shea at Bluebird House.

Across eight weeks, children aged 8–12 will explore character illustration through anime, cartoons, comics and popular character design styles. They’ll learn how to draw expressive faces, dynamic poses and unique personalities, while developing their own characters and stories.

Along the way, they’ll build skills in drawing, colour, storytelling and creative techniques, with plenty of encouragement to experiment and develop their own style.

Whether they love manga, animated films, graphic novels or simply enjoy inventing characters and imaginary worlds, this is a chance to turn those ideas into drawings.

📅 Thursdays from 15 October
⏰ 4–5pm
🎨 Ages 8–12
🖍️ 8 weeks | $245 including all materials

🌸 PAPER FLOWERS 🎬

A song inspired by young voices, brought to life through music, movement, colour and imagination.

Paper Flowers is a little bit whimsical, a little bit unexpected and completely full of the creative spirit of Ensemble NORTH. 🌸✨

Written by Juliana Kay, and inspired by the singers of Ensemble NORTH, this original song celebrates the wonderful world that can unfold when young people are given the space to imagine, create and make something entirely their own.

Performed by Ensemble NORTH (NORTH Children’s Choir) and conducted by Laura Moore, the music video is the result of a beautiful collaboration between young artists and an incredibly talented creative team:

🎵 Music & words: Juliana Kay
🎙️ Recording, mixing & mastering: Jakub Gaudasinski
🎨 Editing & animation: Amber Diss
🎥 Live filming: Alex Walton, Pressroom Media
🖌️ Artwork: Members of NORTH Children’s Choir

And a special shout-out to our featured performers Valentina, Isabella, Eilertru and Stevie. 🌟

We love creating opportunities for young people to be more than performers. They are artists, makers, storytellers and collaborators, bringing their own ideas, personalities and imaginations to the work. Because sometimes a little paper, a little music and a lot of imagination can create something rather marvellous. 💙🌸

This project was supported by funding from the City of Greater Geelong and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
