What a day to remember, our Long Table Lunch function was again a hugely popular success topped only by the grins on the tired faces of all the GRC volunteers.

The day started months before with planning, planning and more planning which made the actual day follow the process like we hoped it would...

Our floral team (yes, we have a dedicated floral team!) started the day before with some stunning hanging and table decorations including our lecturn looking fabulous. The restaurant set up crew also had the task of hanging all the artwork for the auction and made sure the tables were looking fabulous within the space. Then came the bump in crew - the kitchen and back of house team. Let's build a kitchen Simon said.... and build it they did! Wind proofing was the order of the day and what a success that was even before the first gnocchi was cooked.

As the day progressed, everything was moving smoothly thanks to the most underpaid volunteers of the lot; the dish washing team. When chefs called for more bowls and spoons suddenly they were back and gleaming like brand new out of the packet.
Shout out to the front of house team who kept the food service on time and the plate clearing looking like a military operation. A smooth transition for each course and all while smiling and enjoying themselves.
As these photos show, everybody had a fabulous time with the compliments to the entire crew coming thick and fast throughout the day.

Drinks were cold and served quickly, flowers picked fresh from our gardens adorned beautiful salads and desserts, The tomatoes grown last summer and bottled for the gnocchi sugo sauce. It really has been a team effort and as always we couldn't do it without every club member who was in SA, those on holiday had pretty good excuses!

Our silent auction again proved very popular with our guests with bids on all items across the board and particularly popular was the live auction hosted by the energetic Laurie McCann with 4 items proving hard work will be rewarded generously. A very big thank you to all our guests and our auction winners. Goolwa Rowing Club was the outright winner on the day! Big thanks also to Nigel Catt for being our MC for the day.

The club as a whole is filled with talented and dedicated people and one that we need to thank is the formidable Simon Burr. His ability to look to the future paired with his talents beyond the kitchen make this day come alive. We couldn't do it without him and we wouldn't want to.

For those of you lucky enough to get a ticket here's a little map to help you with your parking options as you arrive.

Coming in over the bridge onto Hindmarsh Island then onto Tolarno drive. Follow it past the fabulous Islanders' Tavern then parking is clearly marked on 3 places on the map. Please leave plenty of space towards the pub as they too will be doing a roaring trade.

The Goolwa Rowing Club wouldn't be able to host this fabulous event if it weren't for the dedication of the entire club.. Under the watchful eye of our fabulous event coordinator Mr. Simon Burr and with absolutely everyone having a part to play this event unfolds year after year to the delight of everyone around us.

Just a little notice for those of you lucky enough to be attending our fabulous Long Table Lunch event on Sunday 27th.

We have our fabulous chefs and helpers cooking up a storm and from those more artistically inclined we have a couple of gorgeous paintings from 2 of our talented artists and this stunning piece of jewellery from one of our 2 resident jewellery makers. Tim has designed and made this gorgeous silver pendant from Australian jade and mother of pearl. Just one of the many exciting auction items available only on the day.

We will be having a silent auction as well as the big ticket item up for grabs a private lunch for you and 19 friends catered by none other than Mr. Simon Burr helped by Kate.

Goolwa Rowing Club members set off from Hindmarsh Island last Sunday for a leisurely row to Clayton Bay, followed by breakfast at the Local Clayton Bay Cafe. Some took it more leisurely than others, with time for a little lie down on the way! Another well organised, sensational club event, thanks to Boat Captain Libby Thornton and our many supporters, who helped with transport, driving the safety boat, (thanks Gwynn) or just cheering us on along the way.
