If you’ve ever had someone offer you "life-changing" advice about your child's diagnosis while standing in the grocery store aisle, this post is for you. 🙃👋
Special needs parenting comes with a lot of love, a lot of advocacy, and a LOT of well-meaning (but totally eye-twitch-inducing) comments from people who just don't get it.
Slide through to read 5 classic lines we hear all the time—and the internal monologue replies we keep safely inside our heads! ➡️

For the last three days I've been doing professional development, learning *even more* about how to help children with specific learning disorders, language disorders, learning delays, and executive functioning issues.
TSD2 (Teaching Students with Dyslexia Level 2) is the second three-day session I've done looking specifically at how the Playberry Intervention system can work for those who need more help with literacy than they can get within normal classroom and small group instruction in a school setting.
This adds to the existing literacy training I have in Playberry, LEM Phonics, Jolly Phonics, Sounds Write, Talk for Writing, and 30 years of experience on top of all that!
If you have a child who needs a bit extra, I'd love to help!
Congratulations to this amazing group of TSD2 graduates.
The loneliest part of motherhood isn't being alone—it’s the invisible mental load. 🧠
When mothers say they feel lonely, society often misinterprets it as ungratefulness. But it’s not about lack of gratitude—it’s nervous system depletion.
It’s overstimulation paired with emotional isolation. It’s pouring into everyone else’s cup while yours sits empty in the corner, waiting to be noticed.
Healing this loneliness starts with validation: acknowledging that holding space for an entire family is a massive, often invisible weight. You deserve space, rest, and support, too.
You don't have to navigate the mental load alone. Head over to the TGS website to connect with our community and access mother-centered mental wellness tools. Link in bio! 📖
The meltdown isn't where the story started. It’s where the capacity ran out. 🌪️➡️🧘
When a child shuts down or explodes over something "small," you’re seeing the final release of a day spent masking, over-processing sensory input, and keeping it together.
What’s one sign your child's invisible cup is getting full? Tell us in the comments! For more guides and resources, visit the TGS website via the link in our bio. ✨

Did you grow up hearing "you're too sensitive"? Let's break the cycle. 💔➡️❤️
So many of us were taught that feeling "too much" was a weakness. But forcing a sensitive child to harden their shell doesn't create resilience—it just creates emotional defense. We don't need our kids to feel less; we need to teach them that their softness is safe in our hands.
