Something a little different in the workshop today. 1987 G20 Panel Van powered by a 350 Chev in for a new torque converter and some transmission repairs

This was a fun little project we took on recently.

This customer had recently purchased a nice patrol equipped with triple bypass shocks in the front. Unfortunately, the shock length was far too long for the mounting design to make effective use of the travel and the bypass tubes. The other issue was that the lower mount design hadn’t taken into account the effect that castor angle has and as a result the lower shock eyes were contacting the tie rod.

We concluded that the most cost effective option was to re work the lower mounts and install a set of Superior Engineering 2.5” 3 way adjustable shocks.

The result, a good 40/60 travel ratio with rubber mounting that does not make contact with the tie rod.

That’s another Don River Dash in the books. A full on weekend of recovering broken cars and bikes.

Try as we might, the old kettle still won’t boil with a high temp of 93 degrees recorded while towing a completely dead Class 1 buggy several kilometres through soft sand.

But the real star of the show was our new Superior Engineering shocks. Off the shelf valving with some minor adjustments to the clickers had them out performing our old King Shocks!

This neat little shorty in for a whole range of repairs including a new clutch.

Unfortunately, like most external wastegate set ups we see there was far too little spring pressure and we were only able to achieve 21PSI from it so it was safe tuned to this.

Fresh set of superior4x4 2.5” 3 way adjustable shocks in the ready to cop some punishment at The Don River Dash this weekend taking care of recoveries.

This one is a very tidy example of a relatively stock rig with a Garrett 2863 turbo and Johnny Tig intercooler set up.

The goal was a good safe touring and towing tune while making the best power the pump was capable of.

Who would be keen on these? 3D printed direct screw in TD42 funnel. No spill, no trying to hold it steady. Should we start selling them?

Just like milk and juice, patrols also come in a 3 litre variety. That doesn’t mean we can’t spice them up a bit.

Des brought his Ute in for a bit of a tune up before heading on a trip to the cape. Turns out this one had already had a mild tune before but wasn’t really doing much. We also removed the garbage EGR delete cable and turned it off properly via the ECU.
