Should healthcare marketing be handled internally or outsourced?

Internal teams know your practice, your patients and your tone. They're also usually one person doing it between six other jobs, with no time to learn what's changed.

External agencies bring skill and consistency. They also frequently don't understand healthcare compliance, AHPRA obligations, or why "book now, limited spots" is a terrible idea for a medical centre.

Our honest view: work out where you actually stand before spending money on either. Most practices invest in campaigns before they've fixed the basics.

Which way has worked for your practice? 👇

We don't open with a proposal.

We open with a conversation.

Every practice that contacts us gets a free 30-minute discovery call first. No deck, no commitment, no pressure.

It's half an hour to talk through whatever you're stuck on — staffing, billing, compliance, whether the numbers are where they should be — and for us to work out whether we can actually help.

Sometimes the answer is that you don't need us yet. We'll tell you that too. Book a time at www.practicepartners.com.au

Bulk billing is now at 84.1% nationally.

Over 1,400 practices have converted from mixed billing.

If you're still mixed, the market around you has moved.

That doesn't automatically mean you should follow. It means the calculation has changed — patient expectations in your catchment, what the clinic down the road now offers, and whether the incentive actually covers what you'd be giving up.

Some practices are genuinely better off converting. Plenty aren't. The difference is whether you've modelled it against your own patient mix, or you're reacting to a headline.

Run the numbers before you move.

Most owners think about selling long before they tell anyone.

It usually starts quietly. A hard quarter. Another year covering the shifts nobody else will take. A slow realisation the business isn't giving back what's gone into it.

Then nothing happens, because the first conversation feels final.
It isn't. Understanding what your practice is worth, and what a transition would actually look like, commits you to nothing.

We have buyers on our database and we handle these conversations in complete confidence.

If it's been sitting in the back of your mind, it's worth talking about. 📩 [email protected]

Your consult rooms are paid for whether they're used or not.

Room Utilisation is the gap between the hours your rooms are available and the hours they're actually booked. Most practices have never calculated it.

The number is usually worse than owners expect. It's also the cheapest revenue in the building, because the lease, the fit-out and the power bill are already sunk.

You don't need more patients to fix it. You need to know where the gaps are.

We've built a free Room Utilisation resource to help you work it out.

He knocked on the door every week: "I don't get no patients."
Then he told us who he wouldn't see. 👀

No under-5s. No over-55s. No chronic illness. No procedures.
"But I do everything."

Leadership fatigue doesn't arrive suddenly. It builds.

The five stages we see most often:

1. Enthusiasm — you're driving everything, and it works
2. Overload — you're the answer to every question
3. Frustration — the team can't move without you
4. Disengagement — you stop caring about things you used to
5. Burnout — you're still turning up, but nothing's left

The pattern is almost always the same. A capable leader becomes the single point of dependency, and the team never learns to operate without them.

The fix isn't working harder. It's building accountability so the practice doesn't need you in every decision.

Which stage are you in? 👇

Most practices don't need more staff.

They need better systems.

Two clinics with identical costs can end up in completely different financial positions. The difference is rarely effort. It's structure.

When Medicare indexation doesn't keep pace with wages, rent and software, the practices that stay profitable aren't the busiest ones. They're the ones running the tightest operations.

That's what Virtual Practice Management is for — experienced oversight, systems and accountability, without the cost of another full-time manager.

If your margins feel tighter than they should, adding headcount probably isn't the answer.
